Win 7/10/11
Several months ago I cleared the cache using CCleaner(like I've done a million times) before I performed a full system Image. This was on my daily driver Win11 machine. Although at the time my daily driver was still on Win10 but since let it update to Win11. Afterwards I sometimes have to reset website cookies, etc due to the cleaning. For some reason Facebook will not remember the browser. I run uBlock Origin. I've toggled that off and on for Facebook but doesn't seem to make a difference.
Like I said this has been going on a a few months now with no solution. Same thing occurs with Edge on this machine. And oddly I see similar issues on my other systems...all running uBlock Origin. So Facebook sends me a notication that an urecognised browser was used to access my account. I click the link presented, tell it to remember the Browser, save then move on. Only to be followed by the same notifications next time I log on.

On a whim yesterday I took a spare motherboard and set it up to install a clean OS on it. So I installed a clean NVMe drive and fully installed Win11(23H2). Once it was all set up and updated I went to Facebook and logged in to my profile. Asked for a Code which FB texted to me. Entered the Code and then asked to remember the Browser. All worked as it should. I next installed Firefox fresh and did the same thing with Firefox. It too worked like it should. So it seems on a clean install without uBlock Origin I seem to be able to access Facebook normally. So I could log in to my FB account on this clean install and do not get the notifications of an unrecognised browsers accessing my account.

And as I was typing this out I can't be sure Facebook sent me a login/access Code for this machine in a while. Perhaps I'll try to clear everything again and see if I can get FB to ask for another Code for access. But I think I can remember that happening when I first began troubleshooting this issue.

Scratching my head on this one.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
I use Ublock. I use it to block Facebooks vile addition… REELS.
But I also get the new browser notifications. Facebook never remembers my choice to allow this PC or browser etc. This only happens if I log out of FB… Having said that, I am always logged in with my iDevices. It never logs me out of Facebook using Safari or Firefox for IOS
As for the PC, my answer to all this was a cookie manager for Firefox. I never have to log in. The “Remember this Browser” is totally flawed.

Not having this problem.
Facebook is a scourge -- I won't allow it to do anything I don't want it to do.

From a security standpoint I don't stay logged in to anything that's out there. Whether it be Twitter, Google, Facebook, or even Amazon, when I close my browser all bets are off. Cookies and cache are deleted as soon as I close the browser session.

It's okay if another cookie has to be set because it's only going to ever get just one unique instance.

I also don't ever use password managers and reject push notifications from anything social.
(my push notifications are turned off in Facebook so I don't get that whole "someone just logged in" or "new browser" nonsense -- even though a new cookie has to be set)
I never combine accounts or sync with phones or other machines.
I also keep all of the login info separate and unique between anything I have to login to. (I never use the same password twice)

Sure, I use Ublock Origin too. It doesn't work on Facebook other than to just block *some ads. Facebook has become so pervasive on the net that not just one utility is ever going to stop it's snooping.

Facebook will follow you around on the net even if you aren't logged in to the platform. In order to prevent this, I've also added a few other tools.

Facebook Container works really well in helping to keep your private stuff ... well ... private.

Facebook Container – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)

Another handy-dandy tool I use for Facebook is F.B. Purity. This prevents Facebook from showing you stuff you don't want to see while you are on the platform.

F.B. Purity - Clean Up + Customize Facebook

I usually try to keep things to a dull roar if I can.

I understand that there are some people that actually like the ads and being told what to buy and where to go and that's fine. But I'm one that pretty much likes to do my own thing without all of the noise.

I also understand the need to clear temp files.
Windows 11 is capable of doing that and does a fine job with it's utility build right in.

I usually try to keep as many 3rd party utilities off of my computer as possible -- less fuss in that regard.

Contrary to popular belief, frequent two-factor authentication is your friend. The more you use it, the less likely your social is going to be compromised.

As an aside, another little gem I've picked up during my internet travels is "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" -- There's nothing that smacks of desperation on behalf of the advertiser more than an ad or a video that's set to auto start.

Click on the Ublock icon, select the eyedropper icon, click on what you don’t want to see anymore i.e. the REELS strip, gone. It should remember the elements and block it each time the page loads. Same with any web page. The google home page. All you see in my browser is the search box, not settings, gmail links, links at the bottom, nothing. Block the logo if you want. Select the element where the option to log in pops up, gone…. Gone gone gone.

... Gone gone gone

I've only ever used uBlock Origin to block simple ads. I have it turned off for some sites and on for others.
The original reason why I put uBlock Origin on was to clean up the MSM news sites ... I wanted the news ... not ads.
The Facebook was more of an added bonus at the time.

I agree, Reels are a pain. If I went in to Facebook and looked at my main feed without having any mitigation in place, that's all I'd see is Reels. You'd think that Facebook want's to be Youtube or something ... LOL :)
