Macrium Reflect Free Still Works (For Now)

Found Macrium Reflect Free today on MajorGeeks.com, version 8.0.773. I downloaded, installed it and it worked like a charm. At the bottom of the webpage, you need to follow the editor’s note/ guidelines to successfully complete the installation.

Read Editor's Note At Bottom of Webpage (added some of my comments as well)
To get the free version to install successfully. During installation, you need to place a check mark for personal use only> and agree to use the software only for personal, non-commercial purposes. Then, you will need to “uncheck register this installation of Macrium Reflect” as you’ll come to a page during the last part of the installation that has “enter email address” and below that “Get Registration Code” At the top of that page, you need to uncheck the box that says to register”, Once you do that, everything is gray /blank, press next and the installation completes successfully.
Warning, If you don’t uncheck that registration deal and click on “get registration code” all it’ll do is re-direct you to the Macrium website for a 30 day trial or paid version.

I did a system image backup today successfully as well as created the rescue media. How long they will have this up on the MajorGeeks website is unknow so if you need it/ want it, better grab it now while it’s still available.

I had read so many posts that the free edition was no longer available, maybe I read some of the posts wrong, obviously (:) So when I found it on MajorGeeks today, I thought I would share in case others might not know it was still doable and or available.
Anyway, no harm-no foul-no support, don't want to re-invent anything, maybe next time I should post something about my pet capybara, or just stay away from posting anything and just read quietly eh..

Probably available from Macrium indefinitely, they still have the Reflect Free v7 download agent on their servers, if you know the right URL to use. I've just checked that it's still available, then used it to get the Reflect Free v7 installer.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. Oh, and if you're wondering how long it will continue to 'work like a charm' with Windows 11 24H2 due out later this year, then don't worry. I have tested Reflect Free v8 in the latest Insider builds of 24H2 and it continues to do its stuff perfectly :wink:

You're joking, right?

Well, v6.3.1865 appears to have no issues in 24H2, having just tested a full backup......

...and restore, then booted from the restored OS......

Really wouldn't recommend installing v6 Free in 24H2 though, apart from anything else it lacks the option to add Reflect to the boot menu. I had to make an ISO and boot from that to test this restore. But at least anyone with a licenced v6 can relax, knowing that they will be able to continue using it in 24H2 without problems.

Well, v6.3.1865 appears to have no issues in 24H2, having just tested a full backup......



...and restore, then booted from the restored OS......



Really wouldn't recommend installing v6 Free in 24H2 though, apart from anything else it lacks the option to add Reflect to the boot menu. I had to make an ISO and boot from that to test this restore. But at least anyone with a licenced v6 can relax, knowing that they will be able to continue using it in 24H2 without problems.

Hi,
I never needed reflect boot menu option, everything else works off the winpe media so I just never upgraded.

If it's not broken there is nothing to fix UI changes are not needed in the os since I do not use reflect in the os.

Even when I dragged and dropped C onto a clean install C the winpe media worked flawlessly doing the task and system imaging/ restoring as never failed either :cool:

Hi,
Free version
Only deal would be the new efi/ RE windows update for secure boot flaw will effect the winpe booting but disabling secure boot the winpe should still work after that.
I usually disable secure boot anyway along with tpm so nothing new.

Thanks but I don't need a link to the download of the free version. What I'm referring to is people keep saying that Macrium is still hosting the file and post the link. If someone goes to the Macrium homepage looking for it, they're going fun trying to find it. Just out of curiosity I have tried to find it a few times and either Macrium doesn't post the link or they're making it hard to find.

I don't believe they post the link anymore... it's "ofishuly" out of support as of January 2024. Why would they post a link of an unsupported product?

No, Macrium no longer put the link anywhere on their website, but the download agent .exe is still held on their updates.macrium.com server if you know the right url to use (as is the one for v7).

What I'm saying is that even though Macrium may still being hosted it , one has to be able to find the link to download it. Searching for Macrium free brings up the MajorGeeks' site to a direct download. Very few people are going to find the links that are posted here.

Yep uptodown does show up on a duck..go search along with filehorse duck..go must not like majorgeeks I didn't see them come up I like though.

Think if you get past the reflect trail requirements "register...." the download would bounce you to uptodown website for the download which means little since nobody knows who they are hehe

...and the current UpToDown FREE version is not the last FREE version, if is the current TRIAL version.
