Need Help Installing Fans

Howdy. I bought a computer from CLX. It arrived without the bottom 3 fans! They fInally sent them a week later. I’m not sure just which way to mount them for intake on the bottom. I think it will be the bracket side up? Also, there is one small bag containing 4 long and 4 short screws. The directions call for 20 of each! I’m sure I’m gonna need 8 more short screws to mount them to the chassis?

Also, it says to set the switches on the controller to number it. How would I know what number to number it? Very confusing! It also says to connect the power cable to the 4 pin molex connector. What’s a molex?!

Yeah, I’m lost here. faffs me off as this 13900 runs very warm to begin with, and I really need these bottom intakes for more circulation. I can do simpler stuff, like adding ram and another SSD, but I need help on this one, thanks!

A rep emailed me last week but never heard back from him. Said he’d help me with installing them but he never answers my emails. Don’t get me wrong, this computer rocks. But the quality control needs looking at!

Be best if took some pics of items and case so we could get a better idea what it looks like.

Look at both sides of the fan. It is pretty easy to tell the direction of the airflow by the shape of the blades. The concave blade side is downstream.

Also, most fans have an arrow on one of their sides that shows the direction of airflow.

There should have been 3 bags of those screws (you will need twelve, probably the short ones).

so the way you have them laid out, the airflow would be downwards.

Mine blow from the side with no support to the side with support which. in your case (in your picture) would be from top down. That's also towards the side with the wire

There should be 4 screws for each fan. Usually when mounting to the case... you'd use the short screws.
The long screws would be for mounting to a radiator (water cooling).


The wires that are already hooked to the fans, should just plug into the motherboard fan connectors.

Just go to Home Depot and get more screws.
Take one of the short screws with you, and get 12 that are similar enough to work.
I would get Philips head screws.

There are curved "spokes" (maybe 4 of them) one side of each fan that you can see in the picture is on the side facing down and nothing on the side facing up. The spokes support the hub the fan itself is mounted to. Air blows towards the hub.

I’d show the case, but it keeps saying the file is too big! Same phone I took pics of fans with

No, the fans plug into the controller. They’re RGB. At least that’s what it’s saying In instructions

Save the file as .jpg ...it will have a much smaller file size. You can also "crop" the image in Paint or some other image editor.

The max. pic size is 2MB.

Looks like it comes with a fan multiplexer that you plug the fans into and then plug the multiplexer into the molex for power and also to a fan header on the motherboard for control of all three in unison.

You can also plug them directly into 3 different fan headers on the motherboard if there are that many available.

You can put the controller/multiplexor anywhere that is convenient using double sided tape (I would imagine some was supplied.

Put it wherever you want, that all the fan cables will reach.

Before you mount the fans... just plug one in and see which way the air flows.

The fans on the bottom of the case should be intakes. They should suck air from outside the case and blow it into the case.
