Network logo has changed

In the latest Win 11 Preview Release, I have found that the network logo has changed.

Anyone else?

That's what mine is with an Ethernet connection to the Router.

Yep. That's the normal Ethernet network logo.

Perhasps you’re useually using WiFi?

My ethernet icon on my Windows 11 Taskbar is

- I have yet to do this month's KB5035853 CU.
- I run ExplorerPatcher
- I do not use but have not uninstalled StartAllBack Uninstalled now but the icon remains as posted.

Seriously... if EP made a registry edit... even uninstalling EP might not matter.
The registry edit may still be there?

Or... my Ethernet icon may have changed, and I just didn't notice it?
I don't see either yours or my icon in shell32.dll

Mine doesn't change with TranslucentTB, on or off.


Maybe it's for a new Hardy Boys book... "The Network Icon Mystery".

So you had that other ethernet icon before this month's CU?
- The version posted by the OP & by Ghot.
- The version with the cable shown on the right-hand side of the icon.

I have an older desktop screenshot. Look at the difference between the Win 10 and Win 11 Ethernet icons... (pic is dated July 2021, but I updated the Win 11 part about a year ago).





And this pic is dated Dec 2022... (before MS broke the small Taskbar icons tweak)

So my Ethernet icon has been the same since at least Dec 2022.

On Oct 06, 2021... I switched from the Insider channel to the "official" Win 11 release.




Only tweaking programs I use are Winaero Tweaker and TranslucentTB, and about 4-5 Vivetool tweaks.
All my other tweaks are from a @Brink tutorial.

I've made NO icon "looks" tweaks, and no Network tweaks.

So something I have done on mine must be responsible.
I'll just accept that since there is no operating problem.

Who really knows. OP said he noticed a change, even though I haven't.
I do all the patch Tuesday and all the Preview updates. (non-Insider)

Only update I skipped was KB5034441 on Win 10, because I have no Recovery partition or any of the files associated with the Recovery partition.
I always skip the "Malicious Software Removal Tool".
And, I have EDGE and it's updater blocked in the Bitdefender firewall.

I dunno if it matters, but... I'm on a Local account, with no OneDrive and no Copilot.
And pretty much no Windows Apps either...






But as mentioned by @Try3... it doesn't really matter what the icon looks like, as long as the Ethernet works.

Same for Win11 but my Win10 has Build 19045.4170.

My Win 10 build is 19045.4170

My other Win10 on the Wired LAN has Win10 Build 19045.4170, same icon with the cord/plug on the left.

Just fired up another Win10 to update it and it is on Build 19045.4046 with the same icon as on .4170

Just noticed on my images that the Shortcut shown to Windows Version has the arrow changed between the two.

My icon went back to the "pizza" icon. Crazy.

I think he might be talking about the 'world' icon, which I see when the router is disconnected.
