password issue

Hello,
I have a problem with my password since window asked me to change it.
Indeed window asked me to change my password like every month.
So I change my 6-digit password and it won't take it because it says it doesn't meet the security criteria, even though it did.
I finally find a password that Window accepts, but now Window no longer asks me for my password to reconnect when my computer goes to sleep.
When I want to change my password, it doesn't recognize it, it asks me for my current password and doesn't recognize it.
When I go to settings to change my password, all I get is the modify option.
I don't dare restart my computer for fear of not being able to start it.
When I changed my password, I didn't have Internet access, so I don't know if that makes any difference.
Can you help me?

Just wondering, did you change your password to a local account, or actually your Microsoft Account? It would be different logins and credentials.

I don't think Home versions have access to this, but in Pro versions, I can go to computer management and under users, right click my user name and set password. It won't ask for my previous password. I just enter a new password and log off, then log back on using the new password.

you can't do that.
The only option to change the password is account / login / password.

I've tried to change the password with CTRL+ALT+DEL but it's impossible, because neither my old password nor my new one is recognized.
I want to create a password reset disk, but that's impossible too, because my password isn't recognized either.
anyone have an idea?

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

At least we can make sure you'll be able to access your PC if you restart it and can't sign in to your account.

Make a second local account, and then make it an administrator. If the worse comes to pass you'll be able to sign into this other account to try and sort things out. I always make a second local admin account on all my machines, it's a sensible precaution to have another way in for emergencies.

Oh yes, I have a better idea: Going back 40 years, I have a hard and fast rule, "NO PASSWORDS" on my PC.
With that simple rule, I've bypassed thousands of possible password problems.

I can't begin to tell you, how many service calls I've taken on PC's, with LOST passwords.*
* At one time, I was getting so many calls about lost Passwords, I invested in a Professional Password Removal Tool.

Like the late night bartender that would lock the Manager's keys in the Cash Register, and then call me to come and get them out for him. I got really good at picking the lock on an NCR Bar Register. :lmao:

If you could just set yourself up with a Local Account, with NO Password, sounds like your life would be more pleasant.

I swear, if someone gave me a brand new computer today, with Windows xx Home on it, by sundown it would have Windows 11/Pro/64 on it, with a local account only, and NO passwords anywhere.
Home is lame, and MS Accounts and passwords are even worse. Trouble, trouble, trouble.

NO-ONE needs all that crap, to enjoy using Windows.

Fortunately, I've always used Pro versions of OS from Windows 2000. Working on customer computers with Windows Home is very daunting since it lacks features I'm accustomed to using to work on computers.

All my laptops have only ever had local accounts, be they running W10, upgraded from W10 to W11, or a clean install of W11. All except the ones I take out with me have no passwords.

What's so lame about Home? Most of my laptops have Pro, but I'm happy to run W11 Home on my System One. It's my 'main machine', the one I use most frequently and the one where I keep all my documents and photos. There's little I can't do in Home that I can do in Pro. Hyper-V is about the only significant Pro feature for me, and I have my System Three for that. :wink:

Why do you suppose that manufacturers put Windows HOME on their new PC's?
It's certainly NOT to impress the buyers. It's lacking something that makes it cheaper to buy.
And it's miserable to try to set up without a MS Account.
So my fix for HOME is to just blow it off and replace it with PRO. And, if that's done on day one, hour one, there's no problem with programs or data.
Well, that's ME! I don't expect the world to agree with me. After all, they never have! :lmao:
