HI I am just checking that I am not missing something. My laptop HP 250 G4 sold with TPM 2.0 but core i5-6200U. Windows Update is reporting my laptop is not compatible with Win 11. Is it the processor that is the problem?

But there are ways to get around that if desired.

Compatible core processors are generation 8 and above. Your CPU is 6th generation. To run Windows 11 you would have to install using the 'install on incompatible hardware method.'
There are a number of instructions on this forum and across the web to do this, but IMO the simplest is to download the official iso directly from MS and then use Rufus to create your installation media using it's bypass requirements method. How to use Rufus to create bootable Windows 11 22H2 USB - Pureinfotech

To download iso go here. Scroll down to section "Download Windows 11 Disk Image for x64 devices.

Hi Thanks, I will take a look but I think I don't have the time to devote to trying to keep the system going should MS updates not work as expected due to the incompatability.

Thanks for that will take a look but not sure I have the time to devote to this shoudl windows updates, other stuff, then not work correctly somewhere down the line. Having said that, I might not be able to resist having a go.

If you make a full backup of your Windows 10 install... then no matter what, if you want to return to Win 10, you can. :-)
