Solved Trouble transferring files from Windows 11 to usb

I'm having problems backing up picture files from my computer to a USB stick that can hold 2 Terabytes of data. I reformatted it before starting, copying jpeg/jpg files and a few gif files onto the usb drive for a backup.
But a random ammount of folders or images in them (which are completely fine on my computer) won't copy over. It's a 8 months old USB (we don't buy warranties on items here in my family with computers.) I dont know the manufacturer either.

It's random which images copy over and sometimes and gets errors copying a folder within.
I also tested for any read only settings but it has no such features (including no read only button) Neither does my computer have such enabled.
Everything is up to date too. I also dont know any good usb repair tools. Windows Scanning and Repair seems to freeze when starting

I've not have much trouble with USB Thumb drives up to 256GB in size but did have occasion to look at a 2TB no-name that didn't work properly. I looked at it in Disk Management and saw it showing only 1TB capacity, deleted it's partition and tried again and couldn't even get 1TB fully back. The drives I have all came factory-formatted as FAT32 which Windows can't do over 32GB. I use a Linux Mint computer with GPARTED installed that I've done 500GB as FAT32.

I hope this has nothing to do with your issue, but it may be worthwhile to verify that it's not a fake drive.

All of the conclusions say the same thing it is a VendorCo is the manufacturer of the the usb drive.
My dad owns two more of these purchased from a seller on Alibaba.com website Stupidly enough i'm the only one getting problems with one of these flash drives.
Validrive shows a lot of no storage.

Yeah, I don’t believe they are real.

@bobkn posted a link in post number 3. Check it out, get the app from the first post, run it for all 3 flash drives.
My guess is that you would be lucky if they were 8gb
If you’re super, super lucky, 1TB.

Even product bought on Amazon labeled as VendorCo are being hailed as a scam.

Just Google VendorCo 2TB Flash Drive and have a read around. For your sake I hope it’s just a glitch, but I would be seriously surprised if they were all real. Good luck.

By the way, how much did they cost you for each Drive?

He bought the 3 Sticks for roughly 18 dollars (or Iceland kronur is 2500)

It doesn’t matter if you mean $18.00 each stick or $18.00 for all 3, that’s not realistic. $180.00, if you find a good deal, from a reputable manufacturer/company. VendorCo isn’t one.

I'd be wary of any usb thumb stick that holds > 64GB data.

If you want small high capacity devices that are just a bit physically larger than thumb drives but can hold 2TB safely and easily get a 2 TB NVME (SSD type) with a USBC / USB3 adapter. Heat sink etc is fine and I use several of these for Windows2Go systems and VM's. They work a treat and are easy to carry around. Adapter size is around 1inch X 4ins X <0.25 ins.

Got mine via Amazon Prime. Adapter : GiGimundo Dual protocol M2 SSD Enclosure 10Gbps NVMEm 6Gbp NGFF Cost €15. (Eur, USD, GBP more understandable to users here than kr isl).

For the NVME cards -- Crucial P3 plus 1 TB card (Gen 4) €.40
Netac NV300 2TB nvme /ssd €70.

No problems at all with any of these devices which are used robustly daily.

nocruoro, it isn’t very nice or fair when people like yourself or your father are taken advantage of. It’s always important to search on these things. A simple search with Google for VendorCo 2TB Flash Drive would of been enough.

I wouldn’t even bother taking it further and complaining. Think of it as a learning experience.

I have various up to 256GB, usually no problem. I have had a couple issues but fixed by deleting the partition on them and creating new. I have a Linux Mint 21 and use GPARTED for a lot of partitioning chores and it can format in a variety of types that Windows can't, expecially on drives over 32GB as FAT32, have done a 500GB HDD.

I did do all of them. I just didn't post all of them since i removed them afterwards after 2 of them confirmed them confirmed the same VendorCo name. and the Hard Disk Sentinel program findings.

Me too. The only issue I had with my first 128GB stick was that although it was pre-formatted to Fat32, and Reflect was happy to put its recovery boot files on it, the end result would not boot. Fixed by reformatting with a 1GB Fat32 partition to boot from, and all the rest as an exFAT partition to hold my system images.

exFAT is good because it gets around the 4GB single-file size limit and is fully usable on Mac OS X where NTFS can't be natively written.

I have long experiences with FAT32. They are the only way to upload custom wallpapers on ps3/ps4 and read movies on them just for few things.

I i'll just have to keep this usb stick for just a small ammount movie usb/keychain. At least it has a USB-C accessory to connect to my phone. Nice for travelling.
