What is the difference between Skype and MS Teams?

what is the difference between Skype and MS Teams? Should any such difference(|if there are any) be there?

Skype can not do the work Teams can.

Teams has Office 365 integration for instance, which is quite important and convenient for bigger conference calls.

I don't know the difference but I bet one day MS will announce retirement of skype entirely.

it means Windows 10 users cannot do bigger conference calls because it has no MS Teams.

MS is combining Skype and Teams into just Teams. Teams does everything Skype does and beyond. No need to support two apps doing the same thing.

Apple wont have two different apps doing the same thing, supported, developed/used at the same time.
I am a long-time windows user though.

It's interesting how buyers in IT are able to buy someone's company but are then often unable to keep it the way they want it.

Few examples:
MS bought Nokia and Skype,
E. Musk bought twitter
Nord bought Avast bought AVG

They're buying userbase and then cease them away.

There are successful examples as well like google buying Youtube.

Yes, MS purchased Skype, it wasn't developed by them, and is now trying to integrate it.
All big firms do this, some succeed some don't, I don't understand their gamble since buying some company is not cheap.

Must be because they learned their lesion lol,
fast integration is doomed to fail and users don't like integrations or drastic changes, so it must go little by little.
It's just my speculation why.

I still remember when MS bought Skype.

Skype was awesome before the purchase. But when MS bought it the service degraded so much that I stopped using it for years. After a while I started using the chat fearure a bit, but calls were still horrible. By the time they got the service to an acceptable state, services like WhatsApp or similar had already become a thing.

We use Teams at work. It seemed at first it was going to be constant problems, but as time when on, it seemed to get better and better. Honestly, 90% of my work day is now spent in Teams and email is becoming more of a thing of the best.

Teams is what I use to make phone calls, instant message teammates, have group chats, share files with others, we have tons of channels (literally hundreds of different conversations.....sort of like this forum), all of our meetings happen via teams

what do you think about its name?Isnt it longer?
