Edge does it too. It's a security feature and I certainly wouldn't want to turn it off.

Your Windows user account sign-in method is the reason. Only way I know is with your user account password-less, i.e. unprotected, which I don't advise.

BTW, this doesn't apply to to Firefox.

finally got this sorted .. irritating as it was you turn this feature off in google passwords ( seems its not part of windows security and chrome is invoking the windows sign in page).
This is for when you go to a website and Chrome adds your remembered password , there was a Windows security pop up box.
** After re-reading your issue with viewing the password within password manager ( you defo need that security )

Google password manager > Settings > turn off 'Use Windows Hello when filling passwords'

Yeah, super fun... it's a new feature, automatically on... Not sure if they told us about it somewhere... but wow was that a frustrating couple days. Thanks! Not all heroes wear capes.
