Hopefully they'll do more for USB Drives. I still have DVDs, but haven't used one in aeons.

It's been a very long time since I burned a CD or DVD. I only have two desktop that have optical drive installed in them. One is in an HP desktop that I don't use any more and one is in my old PowerSpec Desktop. The HP has one of those drives that is actually a laptop drive and the PowerSpec has a 5-1/4" Blue-Ray drive that I installed. I also have an exteral drive that I use to install software to our laptops and my Mini PCs. I love playing those inexpensive hidden object games I buy from Walmart.

I read that the major retailers will stop selling DVD and Blue-ray players soon. It's just easier to stream stuff.

I have quite a few dvd burners in the garage. Was a time that if you bought one here you could get an OEM copy of windows for $5. It was cheaper to buy the drive than a copy of windows

AnyBurn does a LOT more than just burning CDs, etc.
You really don't even need it for that... Windows has that built in.

I don't see that happening any time soon. There still a lot of areas that don't have high speed internet. Not to mention those with limited data plans.

You’d be lucky to find a DVD movie rental outlet in Australia. They basically (nearly all) went out of business. More than often, you have to drive a long way to rent a movie. However you can still buy blockbuster movies at retail outlets.

It's the same here in the U.S. We still have Red Box around for renting DVDs. The big box store are still selling DVDs, Blue-Rays and music CDs. It's very limited though. I'm into old TV show and movie and have been using Amazon to buy my DVDs.

I agree Anyburn is excellent and I use it a lot.

Blu-ray

The new players from the big box stores you're lucky if you get a year out of them. I've got a Sony BD player from 2008 that has a few thousand hours on it between me and my kids. Its still going strong. They just don't make things like they used to.

Here's a cool site. If you create a login you can compile your own Blu-ray/DVD/movie online database.

I never liked optical discs. I was always too impatient waiting for them to spin up.
I say "Good Riddance" to them.

I found CD-Rs and CD-RWs to be very unreliable. I would never use them to store valued data. But I love music CDs. Like me, they are ripped!
