Burdensome

Hello,
Running Windows 11 22H2 and have come to a point where I am finding the new features valued by some but unused by me, are burdensome. What if any are the options for a simpler and friendlier secure windows version or option. Reverting to earlier versions, back to W10 or a different platform. Do Not wish to be controversial!

It's not controversial to make Windows behave in a manner that best suits your needs! Your choices may not be what the next person in line wishes for, but that's a whole different story.

Could you possibly cite a few specific examples? Maybe we can visit each individual item and see if there are any customization options that would suit your needs.

There are excellent tutorials here that will help you pare down a W11 installation to the things you use.
Many of us here have come to like W11, but few of us have left it un-customized. The use of native methods instead of third-party add-ons has a lot of fans here.

Tell us what you would like to shed, and what you think you want to add, and we can swing into action with suggestions and ideas.

Good and thanks for the response. Bluetooth not required. Apps presentation not required just running a program. Connection with online services or cloud based services for basic functions like notepad, calculator, touchscreen ability. I did not create a list as yet but that might give you an idea.

I run Windows 11 out the box without removing anything or tweaking it to death. I simply ignore the apps and services I don't use.

Zero issues... and zero headaches

Notifications are what I mean and their prompts, sorry!

Right-click the clock area and choose Notifications settings, and have a ball! I turn 'em on and turn 'em off to suit my prefs.

That is a start and appreciated. Theoretically that is just a chore that I deal with or ignore. Note the options and choices and knowledge required. Easy to just turn it off but what features may be reliant on prompt.....

On further investigation I do not integrate my phone with the computer.....

I’m with @Dru2 on this, if you don’t want to use an app, ignore it. Turning off notifications is one way of not being reminded that things are there. In my opinion, notifications are only good for informing me that new mail has arrived, but I can manually check that myself.

Another way to deal with some of these unwanted apps is to use Revo Uninstaller Free, it’s used by many of our forum members.

Also, this forums “Tutorial” section is jam packed with tutorials made by @Brink that can assist you in turning things on or off, disabling and sometimes removing. You can search in the tutorials section for what you’re looking for.

So Revouninstaller is still around? Used to use it when it first came out. But that again is somewhat burdensome. I may have to as it seems that no one has offered an alternative. BTW I am running into the same type issues on Android phones. I will admit that I haven't been keeping up with the windows world and have never been highly educated on the windows workings and architecture. Grabbing tidbits over the decades. The need or convenience of syncing my calendars and contacts and phones and such is not so much of an incentive. Thanks for your suggestions!!

I will preemptively thank you for the intense information, appreciated. I will dive into the stuff when I can adequately wrap my head around all of it!! I remember using Revo and CCleaner extensively years ago. I must say it did get me into out of my depth troubles, requiring help from the forum. Probably back on Windows 10. I am fairly persistent in doing backups and have used them on a few occasions. Good advice

The most valuable tool on Windows 11 is backup software... "Don't leave home without it".
