Hello,
I used the tutorial to remove the Window Web Experience Pack from my machine. It failed when I ran it with admin permissions in a user account. I then went and did it again in the owner account and after upgrading my microsoft store which did not allow me to get the WWEP from there, to attempt to reinstall it I just used the tutorial uninstall procedure again. It appears as if it worked as the taskbar icon/widgit disappeared. I then went to my user account and found the icon for the WWEP on the taskbar and apparently functioning as I clicked it and the weather and news feed came up. I would like to completely remove the WWEP and have the processes that it runs stopped. Tried several times to uninstall the package and it says it can't find it. In the task manager I see processes that appear to be Widgit involved.

What am I doing incorrectly. Thanks for any assistance!

REVO is not a tweaker program. It's an uninstaller.
You can use it to uninstall Widgets (and scan for leftovers, and delete them), and then uninstall REVO if desired.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Hoping for assistance in slightly more understanding of the issue and its resolution with the system tools. Who know?
Hanging in!

I have been using Windows 11 for about 2 years now. I don't care for Widgets, so I deleted them, a long time ago. I looked around and can't find any reference to a Widget app anywhere. However, every time I reboot, after a windows update, I see a Widget process in my background processes. I don't know how it starts up, but I don't worry about it too much. After a reboot, I just open the Task Manager and delete it. It goes away until the next time I reboot.

I never reboot in between windows updates. I just use hibernate by closing the lid to my laptop. When I open the lid, and push the power button, I am right back where I left off (takes about 15 seconds).

Hello and thanks! My intention was to eliminate the processes forever (if this is possible). Quite often turning the computer off and on.
As an extra benefit, today the widgit was back in my admin account and functioning................!!

It was a dark and stormy night...
The power was out and Glenn was huddling by the fireplace for warmth and comfort.

Every time he started to dose off, he would hear a mysterious voice saying... "REVO, REVO, REVO".

The next day the sun was shining and the birds were singing.
Glenn decided to try REVO.
After using REVO to uninstall Widgets, he exclaimed: "This is great, I should have done this in the first place".

Then there was joy in Mudville, the Widgets were struck out. :D

As I mentioned before, you can use REVO to remove all the junk in Windows 11, but you don't need to leave it installed afterwards.
Of course most people do, because it's such an awesome program. And it's free. :-)

I beat Windows senseless, with REVO and none of it... came back.

Disabling the Widgits in Local Policy Editor removed the icon from the taskbar, But the taskmanager still shows WidgitService.exe running... Can this service be completely removed? Would going back to Windows 10 eliminate the issue?
thanks

I don't see Widget anything in Task Manager.

Here's where all the Widgets files are... your WebExperience version may differ.
I just searched the C:\ drive for widgetservice.exe, and this is the only place it showed up.

Hello,
I do not use all of the features you've mentioned. So if I could get that to work, it would probably solve my wish. So far I have not been able to uninstall the WWEP properly. Following the tutorial provided here, it did not wipe it out. It reappeared the one time I thought the uninstallation procedure had gone correctly? Will try again 3rd times the charm???

I don't see Widget anything in Task Manager.

Here's where all the Widgets files are... your WebExperience version may differ.

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience_423.3400.0.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy\Dashboard
I found mine under Task Manager > Details. Going to try a few more thing!!!! Finger's crossed!

Unsure if it matters but I do not run Windows logged in to the Microsoft Account.

Me neither. I'm strictly Local account. Non-Insider as well.

There's two major ways to do things in Windows...

1. Don't use backup software and spend weeks figuring out how to do the simplest things.

2. USE backup software, and spend a few hours randomly guessing how to do things.
.... (if you break something, just restore from a backup, and try something different).

Here's another great tutorial... use this power sparingly, and USE backup software...

This is highly useful for opening folders, Microsoft doesn't want you to open.
Like... C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

WARNING: Taking ownership of certain folders, can cause problems.

Yet another reason to USE backup software !!!!!

I have seen any problematic results after I took ownership of the WindowsApps folder.

Fully backed up this morning about a separate issue, which I haven't been able to start yet:-). The folder that you pointed to indicates that I don't have access and the built in procedure to gain the access, I haven't been able to navigate/understand properly.... Unsure why I as the admin do not have access to my all of my folders, oldthink??
