Dodging the Wildfires

I'm in Canada. Right now there are over 400 fires burning coast-to-coast and I was already evacuated once.

Fortunately the network survived and my home, sweet home, remains intact.

Living 19 days in the city was a real eye-opener.

Where I live (in the wilderness) the only reason I have high speed internet is OIL.

I'm surrounded by rivers, lakes, streams and trees. Lots and lots of trees.

I service a small town with a web page because we don't have a newspaper.

It's a labour of love.

Just want to say that it's good to be back home again.

Says it's still awaiting confirmation. I can't confirm because I didn't get an email. Not in junk, not in other, not at all. email listed is correct. Spelling is correct.

It's another pandemic!
At work Wednesday morning..., the sun was blocked by almost 35%!

Yup. We have most of it controlled now, here in Alberta. Hopefully we will have enough precipitation this year to keep it that way.

Yup. that looks like what I was breathing in last month. I developed a lung infection and had to go on steroids. Talk about an angry grandpa! Those meds didn't agree with me but they probably saved my bacon. Even though we had evacuated hundreds of kilometres to the capital city, we still couldn't shake the smoke.

That picture has got to be old. I'm up by that red zone in Alberta and fire is out. Skies are clear here. Alas, yes, Canada is on fire practically coast-to-coast.

All the fire bans are off here. We've been getting a lot of rain. When the clouds go away the sky is crystal blue. So here, in North-western Alberta, we are safe. One evacuation is enough for me. lol Trust me when I say it's no fun at all.

We had our share of fires here in the Bay Area, and vicinities. As well as the acopolyptic smoke, night mid day, red skies. We've been lucky lately. We got huge rain, but as a byproduct is lots of growth that is now drying out. Weather today was

Where I live we have to worry about the Phragmites catching on fire. Nowhere near the area as the fires in Canada but just as dangerous to us. We only have one road in or out. The road comes to a dead end. There have been times no one could get in or out of our area. My first experience was coming home from elementary school and our bus had to turn around and wait until it was safe. Because the Phragmites are so close to our house I wasn't sure I would have a house to come home to.
