Anyone have an inkling when the next beta build will be released?

Hard to say at this point. I suspect we won't have one until the end of the month

The desktop icons going white really need to be fixed -- I know you can select refresh to fix them but often when running almost anything they all go white again. Or maybe most don't use desktop icons now.

Doesn't happen AFAIK on other insider builds.

I had that issue as well for a while, but it was resolved with the latest Beta build.

I think it's only a problem on "The Birdie" build.

Will the next Beta build be from the current Dev channel? As 23H2 is now available to the public and has all the features from the last Beta build 22631.2338, is Beta going to jump to 235xx builds now?

I'm still wondering why Dev Build is only 22H2??????

Currently only the latest Canary, Release Preview, and one the Beta builds are 23H2.

Everything else is still 22H2 for now.

I'm currently running Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2, O.S. Build 22631.2338, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22674.1000.0 . A couple of days ago I tried changing the insider channel to release preview using this script that I've used several times in the past: GitHub - abbodi1406/offlineinsiderenroll: OfflineInsiderEnroll - A script to enable access to the Windows Insider Program on machines not signed in with Microsoft Account At first the process went smoothly but when the update was in the installation mode I received an error code ( 0X800f081f ) and then the installation process was halted. I came across this webpage 0x800f081f: How to Fix This Windows Update Error in hopes of correcting this error but at least so far nothing has worked and I'm still running the beta release. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on why I couldn't switch to the release preview build properly ?

For error 0X800f081f, try this and see if it works:

Step 1. Type cmd in the search bar to locate Command Prompt and right-click on it to choose Run as administrator.
Step 2. In the command window, run the following commands one by one and don’t forget to hit Enter after each command.
dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
sfc /scannow
Step 3. When the two commands are complete, run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth again to see if it works properly.

Thanks for your reply, being honest for the time being I gave up on trying to change my insider build from beta to release preview because I feel like it's really not worth it at this time.

No worries, I'm in the same boat. I wanted to switch to Release Preview but gave up.

I'm thinking at least at this point that switching to the insider release preview build isn't that big of a deal anyway.

The term 23H2 is pretty meaningless for Insider versions.

It only has an an initial meaning when the Dev version has all the features built into RTM 23H2.

Dev and Canary have build numbers beyond RTM 23H2.

The problem is Dev 22H2 has new features but not all RTN 23H2.

Back in the day, RTM version would be released, and Dev version (for example) would start afresh with RTM as their base version.

Nowadays Dev (for example) rolls on independently of RTM, so you get a period where it partly resembles previous version of RTM (22H2) as it does not necessarily have all 23H2 features.

Frankly the way Insiders work now is a confusing mess.
