Hello everyone,

I’ve been having trouble connecting my pc to the internet, I get the message “no internet secured” no matter what troubleshooting methods I try. Some examples of troubleshooting methods I’ve tried are turning the router and modem on and off, using an alternate dns, network reset, replacing the Wi-Fi card, using an ethernet cable, updating Wi-Fi card drivers, and running various commands in cmd. So far, th e only method that seems to give internet access to my pc is by using my mobile phone as a hotspot, however it is really slow and unreliable. I would really like to find a fix for this because my pc is the only device in my household that can’t connect to the internet.

Sorry I have a few questions in order to try to help you. Are you using a VPN? What security system/software do you use? Also think of whos name is the internet in..do you live just your family or are you in a house with a few other friends etc...i only am asking that one because i have seen people block a roomate from being able to access the web and act like they dont know anything about it. What type of connection does your home have? Fiber or DSL? Do you prefer to be connected via WIFI or Ethernet?

Id start with these commands and go from here. Unless youve tried all of these.?

Here' the steps you can try.

-Go to Device Manager
-Expand the Network Adapters
-Look for the Wireless driver that was installed
-Right click and Update
-Look for "Browse my computer for driver
-Let me pick drivers available drivers
-Choose an old driver and use it.

Reset Network Settings
Open Settings.
Click on Network & Internet.
Click on Status.
Under the "Change your network settings" section, click the Network reset option.
Click the Reset now button.
Click the Yes button.

-Click Start, type CMD and run as administrator
-Copy and paste each of the commands below and hit enter.

netsh int ip reset

netsh advfirewall reset

netsh winsock reset

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

Once you entered all those commands restart your computer and try to connect.

I don't use a VPN , for my security software i recently downloaded malwarebytes to check for anything that could be affecting my PC but i wasn't able to find any threats and I'm currently using the free trial version which is about to run out in a few days. I live with my mum and her boyfriend so the internet is in their name, i have asked them if they were blocking anything but they have been trying to help me fix it so im pretty confident that there isn't anything like that happening. The type of connection our home has is Fiber and i usually use Wifi over Ethernet because of the distance between my computer and the router.

In terms of the commands, I have tried older driver versions of my WiFi card and done a network reset but they weren't able to fix the problem. I just tried all those commands into CMD but It's still displaying the same error message as before.

Well, there are tons of UK-ians on ElevenForum. I'm sure some of them have experience with ISPs in the UK. :-)

And I found your computer, if anyone needs any other info...

Your story is an interesting puzzle. The problem could be hardware, software, the network, or some combination. Questions that I’d think about if it were my pc:

  • Is this a new computer that has never had a good network connection, or an old one that used to connect but doesn’t now?
  • When you connected via ethernet, did your computer indicate that it recognized the network? Was it an ethernet connection that worked for another computer?
  • When you try to reach the WiFi, how strong a signal does your pc say it’s seeing? How strong a signal does the phone get in that location? Have you tried a speed test on the phone? Could the pc have connected to the hotspot via Bluetooth instead of WiFi?
  • Does Device Manager indicate that your WiFi card is working properly? Have you checked to see if there’s a more recent driver? Do you see only one network adapter or more than one?
  • Have you tried uninstalling the network adapter to force Windows to reinstall?

My Pc used to have a decent network connection when i bought it a while back but nowadays it almost seems impossible to connect to the internet. I've taken my pc downstairs before and plugged directly into the router and it recognizes the network but cant access the internet, The signal on my pc was usually full but sometimes it would show three bars but overall the signal was solid . The other devices in the household seem to have a good signal and I have run speed tests before and I get 110 mbs download and 22mbs upload on my phone. Under the device status on my network card it always says "This device is working properly" even though it clearly isn't, I have checked the recent driver and I am pretty sure that I'm up to date. I have tried Unistalling and reinstalling the my wifi card but nothing changed.

If you plug it directly the router and it sees the network but still doesn't work, I'd suspect a hardware problem. For now I'd focus on ruling the WiFi card in or out as the source of the problem, even though I understand you've replaced it. If it's a pci card, I'd try unseating and reseating, preferably in a different slot, just in case it's not getting a solid connection. If it's possible to test the card in another computer, I'd try that. If you find that the card works somewhere else but not in your PC, you've narrowed the possibilities. You could try reinstalling the old card and see if it makes any difference. (When I had network issues with a brand new PC a few months back, I spent a lot of time mucking around with software, but it turned out that the WiFi card was defective, and a new, slightly more expensive card worked beautifully.)

Ok, do this fist with wireless, then plugged in to the router. Bring up a command prompt - just type 'cmd' in windows search, without the quotes.

when you get the command window up, type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. copy paste output here please

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
My wifi card that i have is an M.2 type which connects directly into the motherboard so I'm not able to try other slots. I took my wifi card and tried it on one of my laptops and it picked up internet straightaway and didn't disconnect. I have also tried reinstalling my old card however it couldn't pick up any internet, It seems like my WI-Fi card isn't defective but something wrong with my PC.

It helps to know that the card is OK. The next thing I’d try is doing an internet search for networking issues with your specific motherboard.

Does it work when you plug your pc directly into the network port on the router? Can you get on to the internet?

I am talking to a person on a different forum and they said this...they were having the same exact issue as you and said they fixed it. But again heres thier reply..

"I learned that the windows install (from their media tool) doesn't come with drivers for the computer. However, an ethernet to usb dongle will work. Once, you've reached the welcome screen, let it sit and download missing drivers. Maybe force install updates. And I now have a few eth to usb dongles on hand always."
Apparently this was the only way for him to finally connect to the Net.
