Hello,
This is my first post so I thank you in advance for your help.
Running Windows version: Windows 11 10.0.22621

Here's the situation:
I always sign in to my computer with a Local Account. Over the holidays, with someone's help, my nephew signed in to my computer. I seem to be signed in under his account now and I'd like to get back to signing in with my local account.

Currently, when I sign into my computer, I'm signed in under my Local Account name, but it is not my local account. The Account Name I used to sign in locally is William. I've been signing in to that at Windows start screen, but I see that I am really signed into Billy B (his Microsoft account, I suppose).

It's very complicated and I'm a bit lost. Below are some screen shots to help better explain.

When I go to accounts, this is what I see. His name "Billy B" seems to be what I'm signed in under.
Account_01.png

Under "Email and Accounts" both of our emails show up. Mine is the bottom one. I have the "Remove" button on mine, but not on his (presumably because we are signed in under his Microsoft Account)

So, how I can I remove him from the computer completely and get back to signing in with my original Local Account.

Thanks for your help, and I'll provide more information when you ask.

M.

Hello Matt, and welcome. :alien:

Check using the tutorial below to see if you may have a Sign in with a local account instead link like below to switch to a local account.

If so, you should be able to remove your nephew's MS account after switching to a local account.

Thanks, Shawn, for the help. I did go through your tutorials.

What's confusing me is that I don't even have an "Account Settings" section un Accounts/Your Info. As in the pic below.

I created a user account in the old school Control Panel way and signed in and back out with that. I didn't see "Account Settings" in that either.
Now, you'll notice, that "Your Info" has William (my local account name) and also Billy B (my Nephew). This is different from the first picture in the original post which has Billy B in both spots. I'm not sure what I've done at this point.

By chance, is your nephew's account part of your "Family" group?

If so, it may not let the account switch do to limited rights under "Family".

If this is the case, then you could temporarily remove him from your family group, see if you are able to switch to a local account afterwards, then you can add him back to your family group if wanted.

Yes, he is listed as part my family group as in the pic below.

When I follow the tutorial so referenced and go to family.microsoft.com, the only person that shows up there is me. I don't see anyone else.

In the pic below, the second person listed as "organizer" is his mother. I don't know how that got there either.
Also, the first person "William" is also listed as an organizer. Then his email address is listed as a member.

I think what may have happened (and not at all sure this is right) is that my nephew signed in to my local account and somehow made it into a microsoft account while it still kept my local settings. Is this even possible?

It seems to me I have lost my local account?

Most likely, him signing in with his MSA caused the Family group to show up like this.

If you or his mother is able to temporarily remove him from the Family group, you should be able to switch his MS account back to your local account.

Ok. Thanks so much for your help. Looks like it will have to be his mother.

I'll contact his mother and see if she can do that.

I may be back to ask some more questions, if that's ok.

Again, thank you so much.

M.
