My niece bought a new Acer Aspire Vero laptop which came with a free trial of Norton which she used until the end of the free term. After which she run Norton Removal Tool to uninstall Norton but it did not remove the Norton Download Manager!

Every time she powered on the laptop Norton Download Manager would initialised with a screen (see screenshot below) that can not be closed by click the X, the only clickable thins you could do was click on Remind me later or Tell me more buttons.

Once again Norton trying to make it difficult for users to uninstall any of Norton’s software, wonder if they are going to keep being difficult with Avast, AVG and CCleaner too which they have acquired!

Never liked Norton and never will.

Kind of ironic when Norton describes itself as anti-malware!

Sadly, it's the way businesses work these days.
If you can't beat the competition, buy them out while cheating along the way.

Sorry, but this is really a simple matter of removing the app or renewing the subscription. What tricks is Norton using to remind your subscription is expired??? Simply remove the app if no longer needed.

I keep getting pestered to install McAfee. I have complained repeatedly to McAfee that these emails are from resellers.
The links all include an affiliate ID, so it's obvious that these resellers are on commission. McAfee does not care what tactics resellers use to get a sale, they still pay commission. McAfee never respond. I have noticed this attitude is common amongst US software companies.
Norton is just as bad. Peter Norton must be saddened.

If I'm understanding it correct, they uninstalled the app, but there are components that are not going away which are nagging them.

@scopio - Did you manage to stop Norton Download manager from running at startup? You do not say so thought I'd ask.
