Solved Some bugs I found in Windows 11

Hi

- I have two monitors and wanted to show task bar in all monitors + auto hide but selecting the two options make the task bar only respond in the primary monitor
- In explorer click and draw a section on folders is very slow and there is lag !! Not like when I select from keyboard with shift
- Start menu some times close itself before I select any app
- I can not search inside Start menu it just close !!
- Openning settings sometimes close itself after open.

I installed all current updates but why all these bugs only from first look. Is it because I upgraded from Windows 10 and not clean install ? there are many configuration and I dont want to spend a week doing everything again if I choose clean install

I'm not having those problems and I upgraded from 10 through Windows Update. I only use one monitor though.

AMD 3800x/ RX 6800 / 64 GB RAM / Sabrent nvme

Just a thought but it seems that the people reporting these issues have Nvme drives. Mine are all SATA and I have no problems. Maybe there are still some unresolved issues with Nvme in Win 11?

You can search if you use the search icon. To show icon on taskbar right click on taskbar-taskbar settings-toggle 'search' to on. It will put a magnifying glass on your taskbar.
By the way, my 11 reacts just as yours. I cannot search directly from start menu as it closes but which I click search icon first, I am them able to type into the search box of the start menu and it works as expected.

AMD has some bugs in Windows 11. Install latest drivers from AMD's site to fix them.

I revert back to win 10 , I feel I can breath now. I could not even find couple of older apps and I get file not found when I open a video file !!! Next try after 6 months.

all latest drivers installed , search icon does not function at all and search bar disappear from start menu. win 10 look bad but at least work.

My new Win11 has a problem with showing miniatures , instead of pictograms !
When opening a picture-folder , I get some miniatures but most of them showing pictograms still .
Never had this problem in Win 10 , any idea how (??) to fix this problem ................??? I want miniatures , NO Pictograms (!!) in my photo-folders !! If this is impossible to fix , I will quit with 11 and I have to return to 10 ................

I'm not sure what you mean by "pictograms" vs "miniatures", but right click in the window (not on a file) and change the listing under "view".

Whenever I have problems with an in-situ upgrade (7 > 8.x, 7/8.x > 10, 10 > 11) on various devices, I try this ...
- backup all user files, and remove from device (slims down size of image to be created, and the time taken)
- image "old"/existing system
- clean install new system (NO internet connection until fully installed)
- test, bit by bit (i.e. before updates, then progressive installation after selected updates, especially drivers)
- (re)imaging from time to time, also

IIRC, only on one occasion (out of a dozen or more times) did the problem (whatever it was) return - and that was down to a inappropriate MS supplied driver (SDI Origin fixed that issue)

Alternatively, option 2
- rather than image, swap out the old drive for a new blank and then do the clean install etc. Then if you need the old system back in a hurry, and/or things go pear-shaped, just quickly swap the drives back.

EDIT : A week to clean install??

I agree. I have several post in this forum about W11 and how it's not a finished OS yet. Just go into your Recovery and choose to go back to previous OS. In a matter of minutes you will have Windows 10 again. I am waiting until next year when all the missing or silly Context Menus, Start Menu and Taskbar Options are addressed in a major update.

This is not aimed at anyone, nor is it meant to help with the bugs which are the subject of this thread, I am simply tired of seeing "revert back", which makes no sense. Given the definition of "revert", `return to (a previous state, practice, topic, etc.)', there is only one direction in which one can revert, namely back. Thus, "revert back" is a tautology.
