When I group certain windows, is there a way to hide the individual members while they are grouped and then show them again when they are ungrouped? Is this possible?

This is akin to the Plex behavior where only Collections are shown in a movie library. So, Harry Potter only appears once and clicking on it then shows the individual members.

Not to the best of my knowledge. Either they are grouped or they aren't.

There is (sort of) a way, but it would involve using (multiple) virtual desktops.

See our tutorial on adding virtual desktops at:

At the end of the tutorial, right above Brink's name, there are related tutorials here on managing, removing and other functions dealing with virtual desktops. The last two will help you achieve what you want.

The downside is that there doesn't seem to be an easy way to move any window / app from one desktop to another. So, you'd have to manually open the same app in the new desktop and then open multiple tabs / etc. to have them grouped in the new desktop, and close the ones on your original desktop, to have them 'hidden' after using the last two links to only show apps from the current (virtual) desktop in both the taskbar as well as Alt + Tab.

The good thing, though, is that the (virtual) desktops themselves don't show on the taskbar, other than having the Task View button there. So, until you click that button no one will know there is even more than one virtual desktop.

Minimize To SysTray utility..., Tray-It or Dexpot
Four open, one showing...
