Acronis True Image

I have a WD easystore external hard drive. It installed Acronis True Image on my computer. Malwarebytes is constantly throwing an error message that the Acronis updater.exe is "compromised." I searched for information about uninstalling the app, but can't find if doing so will corrupt the hard drive. Malwarebytes throws the message constantly. Is it okay to uninstall Acronis without damaging the hard drive? I have a secondary backup to Carbonite, which I've used for years.

The best option however, would be to restore from a backup you made "before" you installed Acronis.
If that's not possible for some reason... definitely follow the directions at the link above.

I had a hard drive that died. When I bought this hard drive, I installed the Carbonite back up to it. I want to be sure that if I uninstall Acronis, the action isn't going to damage the hard drive.

At worst, removing Acronis might bork Windows.
It won't damage the hard drive though.

Malwarebytes are the culprit. By default, they just bombard you with warning messages each time when a legit program uses P2P technology to download an update. Just because it tries to connect to some certain IP addresses that are blacklisted, doesn't necessarily also mean that P2P download mechanism will pose an actual threat to security... the same also happens when you use a BitTorrent-compatible client. I stopped using Malwarebytes about a whole decade ago.

...And no, trying to put the blame on Acronis (see the link below) is not going to help them save face either, as this is just how every P2P-based updater factually works.
