Laptop has been BSOD'ing for a while now. Happens only at night between 11pm-4am. I've fixed this in the past but can't remember what I did. I had more minidump files but ran CC cleaner last week and apparently deleted those, whoops.

Anyhow, ran the V2 log collector, here's the results: Z33B00K-(2024-02-14_18-46-32).zip

Thanks for your time.

There were two problematic GPU drivers.

The Nvidia GPU drivers were causing BSODs.

The Intel GPU drivers were causing hangs.

Please perform the following steps:

1) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

2) Make a new restore point:

3) Uninstall the Nvidia and Intel GPU drivers using DDU

Reinstall drivers from the HP website

4) Download and install: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v10.3.0.0

Was the code from your first reply what was found in the mini dump file? Nothing I need to do with it?

The default recovery partition is missing and Windows Recovery Environment is disabled.

Were these deliberate or by accident?

The missing recovery partition sounds like something I would deliberately delete. It's been years since this original install.
I don't recall the Windows Recovery Environment though.

The recovery partition nor an enabled RE are necessary as long as you continue to make Macrium backup images.

Run administrative command prompt:

reagentc /info
reagentc /enable
reagentc /info

Post a share link.

Thanks for your help last night. I'm using Macrium to access historical backup archives. I don't use it to back my device up. Anything important I store on my NAS. I also use cloud backups too. That said, is there any value in using RE still? Thanks!

A bootable Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT)(Windows 11 iso) can be used instead of a Windows recovery partition.

It can be created on a Windows computer with a flash drive (> or = 8 GB).

Overnight run the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics in loop until error.

Power on and repetitively click F2 or F10 > UEFI hardware diagnostics > system > extensive > loop until error >

the next day if there has been two or more loops > click esc > take pictures >

post images or share links displaying the tests performed with results

Download and install: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows v2.4.0.0

Ah FortiClient, I did make some extensive changes to that configuration. Makes sense now... the BSOD was not the same (hang vs. turning off). I will ping Fortinet to troubleshoot.

Here are the results from the overnight scan. I didn't see the message to uninstall FortiClient until this AM.

The UEFI hardware diagnostics were good.

Please reinstall the Nvidia GPU drivers (nvlddmkm.sys) from the HP website after a clean using DDU.

The HP Windows hardware diagnostics may have interactive GPU testing.

Please perform these tests too.

Will do.
Does it show the NVIDIA driver staying the same meaning Windows didn't auto update it or anything? By reinstalling we are ruling out a corrupt installation?

Starting from a clean install creates a fresh installation for the new monitoring period.

Repetitive BSOD with multiple drivers especially different versions typically indicates malfunctioning hardware.

The best tested drivers are on the HP website.

The newest driver versions are on the component manufacturer website.

Plan:

1) Install a fresh driver from the HP website

2) If there are no recurrent problems then that completes the troubleshooting

3) If there are recurrent BSOD caused by misbehaving Nvidia GPU drivers then try each a newer and an older driver from the Nvidia website

3) If computer instability continues caused by Nvidia GPU drivers then turn off the Nvidia dGPU and only use the
Intel UHD Graphics 630 iGPU

4) And consider servicing at HP or at a local computer store
