Cannot output sound to a bluetooth speaker

windows 11
Bose bluetooth speaker is working...I can send sound from my pixel phone.
On my W11 laptop, bluetooth is ON and shows CONNECTED to the Bose speaker.
The Bose speaker tells me it is connected to my laptop.
But, when I try to direct sound to the bluetooth speaker from either Spotify or a Firefox browser window....the sound is only on the laptop
In the taskbar, when I click on the sound icon, the options list for output does NOT show the Bose bluetooth speaker....and I think this is where it should and where I should be able to select the external bluetooth speaker for sound output.
I'm stumped.

Windows 11 bluetooth shows CONNECTED to Bose speakers.
about:support does not list the Bose speaker under OUTPUT DEVICES
And, to clarify, Spotify is running as an app, not in Firefox

If you turn off and then turn on the headphones, they will be prioritized for output .

Some programs allow you to choose where to output sound, as well as capture sound to an exclusive mode.
Spotify ?

By default, everything just works.

Not headphones....Bose bluetooth speakers.
In the past, I could select it directly as output and it was labeled as "Bose". Not there anymore.

Shows Bose as connected via bluetooth

But doesn't appear as a Sound output device here:

Put the device into a mating mode, it blinks in turn red and blue and connect/reconnect.
1.pngFor a computer, it does not matter headphones or speakers.

If the bluetooth speakers are connected to your computer with a cable, disconnect this.
