default image view to extra large?

How can I change the default file explorer view for images to Extra large? With a high res monitor it is tiresome to have to reset the view every time I open a folder containing images. Even Large is too small to be useful.

Alternatively, if there are Directory Opus experts in the forum, can I just make DO take over all those explorer duties?

Hello, :alien:

You could use the method in the tutorial below to apply the Extra Large folder view to all folders using the same template (ex: Pictures).

Call me picky, but I was hoping there was a more granular method of having explorer discriminate between images and other files for its views. This would be a lot more useful to me than the billions they have spent on Co-Pilot ...

With the app of our member @LesFerch you could change the view for each filetype.
To clarify, you can set the default view for each folder type. Explorer uses its "automatic folder type discovery" to determine the folder type based on the folder contents.

On Windows 10, you could easily override the detected folder type and it would stick.

On Windows 11, with NTFS Local Disks, Explorer aggressively reruns the automatic folder type discovery, so you really can't override it.

On USB drives (that do not mount as local disk) the folder type will be General Items and cannot be changed using "Apply this template to all subfolders". Setting the folder type one folder at a time is also unreliable. So, hopefully you're not trying to get folders set to type Pictures on a USB drive.

Note that the "Apply this template to all subfolders" does work fine if you're using the Windows 10 Explorer on Windows 11, which is possible via reg settings or certain patch tools.
