Google Chrome: How to change the bookmark folder icon back to solid yellow?

I really hate the latest design change in Google Chrome.
Since the latest update to v123, the flag
Chrome refresh 2023
doesn't work anymore.

Now I see this ugly black & white bookmark folder icons in my bookmark toolbar.

(The bookmark font is blurry and needs to much space.
The entries in the drop-down box of a bookmark folder needs to much space.)

How can I revert this latest change for bookmark folder icons in Google Chrome?

Do you know any Addon or any other idea how I could change this icons back to a solid yellow instead of this ugly flat black & white thing?
Do you know a way to change the font back to a crispy clear version using much less space then the current one?

I was wondering the same, hate the outline folder. Not sure it is doable though other than doing a help ticket directly to google.

You cant change the folder color, but you can install a browser theme which makes it that color.

I'll have to look into that. I like dark theme, the one I'm using has the outline folder, maybe one of the others has a yellow. I figured it was an embedded thing across the updated Chrome as the folders where yellow before the recent updates and never really checked into it further.

Just ran through the different dark themes and none changed the folder from just an outline.

Hmm I used a colorful one and it changed the look of the folders slightly but not significantly. Sorry about that.

Favicon extension does change the main bookmarks but there seems to be no way for the subfolders.

Why do they always take the fun stuff away!?!?!?

Can't make the Realbox match the Searchbox theme anymore, either!

The flag still works, but you also need to disable "Customize Chrome Side Panel".

See the yellow folder in edwin's post, how do we change the folder color back to that on bookmarks folders on bookmarks bar using chrome plz?

It's weird though, it disables a lot of other Refresh 2023 flags, even though they're still enabled!

Paste-and-go to chrome://flags from the address bar, search for the aforementioned flag, Disable it, relaunch Chrome.

I think you have to disable BOTH:
Chrome refresh 2023
and
Customize Chrome Side Panel

It should work then, after you restart Chrome.

I had mine disabled and it use to work. After last upgrade, it’s still disabled but I no longer have yellow folders they went to clear. Enabled and disabled but still no yellow folders

Ironically I'm not really a member of this site. This thread was the top result on Google and there are plenty of guests viewing it so I thought I'd sign up and post the fix once I found it.

By the way, the first post said the Chrome refresh 2023 disable flag no longer works and I said it does but requires another flag to be disabled. Thought it was clear but I guess not.
