I think you'll find that Chrome WebUI Refresh 2023 isn't a necessary part of the fix. It's Chrome Refresh 2023 that's required. Plus the other one, Customize Chrome Side Panel, of course.
You are right!

It seems, that currently even the Customize Chrome Side Panel alone is sufficient to see the yellow bookmark folders:
1711351208132.png
At least in my Google Chrome v123.0.6312.59 this is the only manually Disabled flag now.
(Or is this just a "side effect" from a previously Disabled Flag?)

Can you please test and confirm this?

You don't have to type the flag text "Customize Chrome Side Panel" manually. Just click on this URL ;-)
chrome://flags/#customize-chrome-side-panel
and click on the Disable button.

Unfortunately, the forum software don't let us create a URL without http: in front...
You would have to copy & paste it.

It seems the latest updates to Chrome has reset the icons again.
Probably have to reset the Flag, maybe even 'Temporarily re-enable 124 Flags'

Unfortunately, with the newest Google Version 125.0.6422.61 (64-Bit) even the
+ Temporarily unexpire M123 flags
+ Temporarily unexpire M124 flags
Not helps to get the yellow folder icons back.

Any other ideas?

Sometimes I do wonder why they change things that have nothing to do with security or real noticeable improvements other than trying to justify their jobs. "Oh look what I did boss!" Yea, call me cynical.

Customize Chrome Side Panel isn’t available in the current version. Putting that in the search blank brings up a half dozen things, but just plain Customize Chrome Side Panel isn’t there.
