OS
Windows 10
I was totally surprised when I tried to upgrade my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz machine to W11 and got the PC Health Check report that Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz is not supported. I've configured my machine with several HDDs and a SSD for the OS files. So I did an Internet search and found that there are some non-MSFT registry changes that will allow installation of Windows 11.

Tenforums has been my go-to resource for valid information on such matters so I decided to register on Elevenforum.com to solicit help. I don't intend to upgrade a perfectly fine working machine just for Windows 11. Any advice??

In this video, i will upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 on unsupported computer hardware. Although Windows 11 has a higher system requirement, you may still be able to perform an upgrade on an unsupported computer. The Windows setup has an “appraiser” service that checks to see if your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for that version. It’s possible to replace the appraiserres.dll file in the Windows 11 setup with one from an older build of Windows 10. In order to replace the Windows 11 DLL with one from Windows 10, you’ll actually need the setup files for Windows 10.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Win 11 is almost the same as Win 10 with a new (bad) interface.
As you may not like it, create a drive image backup or install on a dedicated drive.
My advice is that you install Win 11 on a dedicated drive. Don't forget to detach all other drives during installation or you may end with the boot loader on one drive and the OS on another.
I have used this guide to install Win 11 on my computer.

You can also clone your Win 10 drive and then upgrade win 10 to Win 11

To upgrade from win 10 to win 11 on unsupported PC:
  1. Back up your current Windows 10
