Links in emails no longer working

All was working well but no longer.

When I receive an email (e.g. from Amazon - but it applies to all email from any source) informing me that my item has been dispatched and inviting me to click the 'Track Package' link all that happens is that I receive the message attached.

Up until a week or so ago this was working correctly.

The email client that I use if fully up to date and the support team cannot find any issue. My browser is fully up to date. A repair install of Win11 didn't solve the problem. Now I am at a complete loss.

Any hints/tips/guidance greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to make sure you have a default browser configured.

Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps and type in the various file extensions that may contain web links into the Set a default for a file type or link type box at the top of the page..

E.G. .htm, .html .asp etc...

A comprehensive list may be found here: Web File Formats

Alternatively, type in your browser name into the Set defaults for applications search box, click on the browser name when it appears and see which file types your browser is associated with.

You can also set your browser as the default while you are there.

I think it is an *.html type link so see if html is associated with a browser.

Settings...Apps...Default Apps and search for html in the top search box.

I agree with all the above but also, have you tried resetting/troubleshooting your email client? This varies according to the client so look in the 'Help' section for instructions.

Also try your web browser's troubleshoot mode.

As a last resort try uninstalling and reinstalling the web browser to force the app association.

Thanks trumpy81, kelper and wiganken for pointing me in the right direction.

All now looking good and working as expected.

I still don't understand how the original settings were lost but at least now, thanks to your help, I am getting back on track. :)
