Media Player version 11.2401.2.0. Is there a way to get rid of the "could not complete the rip" message?

If the media is from one of The Big names it might have protected content blocking the RIP process

I meant to add that more often than not, the message wmp sends is incorrect. The songs are all there.

From a CD? Have you checked to see if maybe the optical drive is bad?

Just for kicks I ripped an old CD [1994] containing 23 song tracks, file extensions of *.cda. The .cda is merely a pointer to the actual music. I have the same Media Player that is part of Win11, Version 11.2401.2.0, had no issue with completing the rip. I do agree that DRM has been an issue, especially when seeing iTunes on some clients' computer.

Got that constantly with the new Media Player.
Use the Legacy WMP, never had a problem.

I didn't know I had a choice between Legacy and the latest version. I'll see if I can download Legacy.

I ran it through a cleaning cycle twice. If you mean something more technical than that, I'm afraid that's above my ken. Thanks for the reply, RJARRRPCGP

Open your Start Menu and search it, it's still there.

Start, All Apps, W, Windows Tools. [Windows Accessories on Win10.]

Personally, I’d use a 3rd party CD ripper. There are so many out there, many are free.
I realise that It doesn’t solve the error message.

Very true. It could eliminate the prospect of the optical drive being at fault. I actually hadn’t thought of that.

I hate to lead new visitors/new W11 users astray, but, many of us here have been guinea pigging MS junk for damn near a decade!
Frankly, I'm to the point of telling them up front 'Don't bother, use what's tried, tested and true'!

I still use the old windows media player because I like the play on top feature and I can dock it in the bottom corner. And it rips cds well

All these odd issues since that latest bupdate. I seem to be asking people a lot

I totally removed WMP and only use... Foobar2000, VLC Media Player, and AnyBurn.
To edit videos... I use Avidemux.
To grab a song's audio from Youtube videos... I use Audacity.

I are A/V challenged, so I like "simple" programs.

They are all a lot simpler, and don't call home like WMP does.
I always had the feeling, that WMP sends info about every song on my computer, straight to the RIAA.

Thats as funny as how I managed to quote you with that comment above the quote. I think I smell burnt toast.
