Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 won't install

I discovered recently that Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 will not install on Windows 11. Is there some way to make it work? So far I have not been to find anything that does everything I want in the same simple and straightforward way. I'm tempted to go to the trouble of installing a virtual machine just so I can run it if that's my only option. Any help with this will be appreciated.

I wonder whether this would help?

I had to look it up: final version in 2006. I'm unfamiliar with it. The features in the current Windows Photo don't match its functionality? (I only use Photos as a viewer.)

Since there's apparently no way to get DIP 10 to work I decided to find another application. After testing a few photo apps I settled on Ashampoo Photo Commander. It has a feature set similar to DIP 10 and is very affordable. I tried the free version first, which has a reduced feature set, then installed the 30 day trial for the full version.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Perhaps I should mark the thread as solved?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Thanks for the links. I remember using Paint Shop Pro a long time ago. I'm pleased to see that the latest version supports dark mode. I'll have to give it a try. (y) By the way, I can't find the actual installer. Can you point me to it? TIA

I believe it is because of the additional system requirements. Specifically the requirement for IE 8 which will not install on Windows 11. As previously stated you will need to find another program. Personally I find this sad since I used and enjoyed this so much on XP.

I like MS Digital Image also. It's very simple, quick, effective and has most of the features for basic photo/image editing. There is also a Vista patch for it, but not sure it's needed; I didn't bother to install it. I found I can install MS Digital Image 2006 on Win11 by using the following workarounds:
* Best to close open programs and documents.
* Double click on the Digital Image Suite setup file from you original disk. Just to be sure, I copied all software from the disc to a folder, and then went looking for application files and set each to compatibility mode (but found that's not really necessary).
* If you receive questions for permission, just Ok it..
* Select a few options available. When it says “The Windows Update: Internet Explorer and Internet Tools cannot be installed on this computer. This product does not install on 64-bit platforms.” message, click OK button to continue.
* You will get the second usual error “Setup has detected that Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 installation was not completed. The installation may have been cancelled, or you may not have enough free space on your disk.” DON'T CLICK IT.

Return to your desktop, press the Win+X from your keyboard, click on Shut down or sign out > Sign out.

* Window 10 cannot complete the operation and will give message the MS Digital 2006 Installation is running. Wait a few seconds and click on Cancel button. Then notice the MS Digital 2006 installation box – click OK. Now the installation will finish. It may seem to take a while, but my installation finished, just click ok, next or whatever and it does finish after another 5 minutes or so.
However, when you start Digital Image, you'll notice some of the nice graphics on the left sidebar are missing, but if you hover with pointer over each option/line, you can still see what each is and the program will still operate normally and let you edit pictures as you did before Win 11. This was also a workaround that worked on Win 10, I got some of the steps from someone else years ago.

And, there’s a patch for this program, MS Digital Image 2006 Vista Patch, I believe it's optional.
