Microsoft I HATE (caps intended) the new Dummification on power saving settings

Hi everyone
it's mega annoying when I just want to do something which should be simple such as change power settings or computer sleep times so I click in the settings and then I get a wretched Microsoft Bing Internet thing -- If I needed the Internet I'd go directly there.

Maybe this only happens in a VM as there's no separate on battery or on mains section --that is fine by me but why can't I get directly to the settings via simply the windows settings thing.

I try to simplify things, by just setting all power saver settings to "NEVER". NO SLEEP, NO Hibernation, NO Timeouts, NO messing with me at all!!!
I turn my Computer ON, I work with it, and when I'm done I turn it OFF. Simple, easy and no muss, no fuss.

I handle the power myself. It's called a Power Switch!

I use this as it's so quick. It does work on Win 11 too. Just select 'high performance' in Control Panel's 'Power' settings first. Then select this plan at the website linked below.

Windows Answer File Generator

Below are basic settings that can be configured during and after installation. What you type will automatically be updated in the Output area.

It will create a batch file that you use wherever you need it.

Are you clicking on the area I highlighted in yellow, versus the dropdown that is circled in red?

Just click start and type Edit Power Plan and open it…

Disable that. Winaero can, or you can just look at what reg that edits and do it manually.

That's why I prefer the traditional Control Panel over the new Settings app. Why mess with the new Power controls in Settings when you can just go at Control Panel and then to Power Settings? There you find the available power plans (the rest are hidden but can be enabled using the appropriate command). You click on your current power plan and then on Edit to see the timings and other advanced settings.

Power controls are leaving control panel in 24h2. You might like the control panel, but you better get used to the settings panel.

As long as before they leave CP they add in all the detailed functionality into the Settings app.

I wonder if the customized settings (I use Ultimate Performance plan, manually enabled, and customized similarly to TechnoMage2021's description) can be fed into the registry manually?

you can edit them through GPEDIT. not 100% sure where Every reg key is located, but most are in there. Despite that, i honestly doubt they'll do away with opening advanced power plan settings directly for a long while:

I was going by Andrew's comment. My current Canary VM still allows me to go to control Panel and select it from there, as well as Start --> search for Edit Power and directly open the .cpl also, so it's still a concern for the future lol.

I will be highly miffed if all we get left with is the absolutely boorish method the Settings panel currently has and no other (easy) method (other than GP). If this actually ends up being the case next year, I'll be fully done with Windows. I built my rig for performance, not for hobbled BS efficiency that I don't need.

Yeah I was going by this article

Windows 11 24H2 moves more Control Panel features to Settings

Microsoft moved the change 'Lid, power, and sleep button controls' to the Settings app from the Control Panel.

Interestingly enough, my power menu (in a VM) is even more sparse - I don't even have that power button setting lol.

Have you noticed if they have or know if they are removing “Mail (Microsoft Outlook) from CP or what the status is when CP is moved to settings?
I will be very disappointed if that disappears. It is the most convenient way to deal with Profiles, Data files (PST) and eMail Addresses.

I don't think they will remove it without giving it an equivalent option in Settings, but as far as I remember you can access it from Outlook, you don't need to open Control Panel. Probably you can access it from Mail too.
