win 11 pro
I have some missing that appear on bootup messages and have been unsuccessful fixing them. I have run

sfc /scannow
and
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I have even done a win11 reinstall / keep files and apps and that didn't change it. Thanks for any other ideas.

Strange that it's only the E. Are letters missing within Windows itself? Also, are you running insider or release version of Pro?

Thanks for the reply. I'm running the release version of Windows 11 pro. No letters are missing once I boot up. All updates are done too.

Corrupted System font. I have had that before. The cause was a power cut which damaged sectors on the hard drive which happened to be where the System Fonts where.

The fix:
1. Surface scan the Hard drive/SSD so the bad sectors were marked off. The saved remnants may give a clue as to what files were damaged.

2. Ascertain which System Font it is. Replace the affected Font with a Good Copy, there is a copy on the system, I forget where, and because they are System Fonts a bit of extra work.
There are some help pages on the MS site as to what system fonts are included with Windows.

Of course you could fully re-install Windows which maybe necessary if there are additional areas affected.

It was a while back on an earlier version of Windows. Approx 30% of the alphabet disappeared where that Font was used, luck would have it that it was a font used on MS help pages.

But how can it be a system font if there are some e's there and some missing?

I had done that rebuild cache script earlier as admin and it made no difference even after reboot. This is just weird
You would also think having just done the complete reinstall Windows would have replaced the files

having just done the complete reinstall Windows
May I ask, when you refer to complete reinstall of windows, do you mean
1. a CLEAN install of Windows using a downloaded ISO where all partitions on the drive are deleted and Windows is installed on unallocated space,
2. OR, do you mean a reset?
3. OR, do you mean a repair install?

I do not think you did a clean install as that message is not part of the clean install process. (or at least not during one I have done)

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I think it's called a reset. I downloaded ISO, mounted it, and ran it from the desktop and selected keep all apps and files. I have way too many things installed to do a fresh install but would really like to know what's going on with this and find a way to fix it without having to wipe the box because that is not going to happen.

Yes. That option exists in Repair install & in Reset.

Since dsim says If DISM finds corrupted files it will replace the, is there a way just to force it to replace all system files?

Yes, but not using Dism. It's called a Repair install.
