Solved Missing Windows 11 Toolbar after Windows update.

Have started the loading of Apps slowly, and you'll all be pleased that the first App was Macrium Reflect.
I was very surprised with this as my OS Disk size 44.4GB was crunched into the image backup size 15.8 GB in 1 minute 46 seconds.
When I did my test before the clean install, It took 20 minutes to create a OS Disk backup image.

Also I was surprised that the order of naming the disks 0, 1, 2 etc is DIFFERENT on Macrium to that for Windows 11.
Hello again!
Nice to see that you've completed all the work plus now have a backup to help out.
Just make sure to backup your OS or drive before any Windows updates and to also
use Macrium after major installs such as games or paid for programs that you might
add in the future.
When I cloned the drive in this notebook the first time to a bigger drive, the drive
letters also changed. The OS drive letter was originally Disk 0 and now it is Disk 1.
as long as it boots from the OS drive, I don't think there would be any problems.
I have since cloned this drive every time I add a game and the numbering stays the same.

It has nothing to do with 3rd party. This bug exists in Windows 11 since a year or longer, that randomly the task bar is missing after login/reboot. It happens with higher chance after a Windows update. My guess it is a bug with timing if the PC starts too quickly. MS is just incompetent. Reboot, log out in, or restarting explorer process fixes it. I came to thix post because my task bar is at this very moment, again, also missing.
Have you fixed the missing taskbar or is it still missing?

When I cloned the drive
I was using the "Image this disk" as per instructions earlier in this post.
For my information what is the difference between that and "Clone this disk" ?

I was trying in my last post to see whether is was normal to have the OS disk "imaged" in 1 minute 46 seconds.
It seems rather short period to me, and being new to the process was trying to access if I had made a mistake or not.

Not sure what you mean? I said how to fix it: log out / in, reboot, resatrt explorer process. You can still press win key if the task bar is missing and you get the start menu and can log out in or reboot.

This is what I was referring too.

Hi again!
The difference is simple. A clone will be a 1 to 1 functional and Uncompressed copy
of the drive in question. An image will be a Compressed version of the same drive
and is much faster than cloning a drive. Plus you could also just image the OS partition
instead of the whole drive. In your case since the drive is practically bare (almost no programs)
it is much faster and easier. I clone to the same kind of drive that resides in my notebook
in case of a drive failure in which case, I simply swap the drives and in about 15 minutes, I'm
back to normal. How is the PC working for you now? Is it as it was or better?

How is the PC working for you now? Is it as it was or better?
There are no system failures and I have turned of the windows update for 4 weeks.
I have a lot of Apps to add and some bespoke software of my own, which unfortunately I forgot were using the C: drive (I am going to change them to use D: drive to avoid this problem in the future).
There's also the tricks and quirks to windows like 'Taskbar left', 'No return on entering Pin', 'See all extents and hidden files', etc
I am very slow and am taking the opportunity to ensure that all have the latest software, and check whether I really need them or not (Belarc has a last use function, so may come in handy). It's a good time to tidy things up generally as well.
So It will be several more days before I can say the PC is back to what it was.
I'm also doing more 'Create Restore Points' and added the Macrium 'Disc Imaging' to my Windows Maintenance Notes.
I will let you know when I believe I have achieved my complete install of all my needed items.

I hear what you're saying. It took me about a month before I got everything back to what I really wanted out of this
notebook but, it's well worth the effort when, all you have to do is hit the power button and everything works the way you
want it and not have to worry about nothing else. Just enjoy this time and let us know if anything comes up good or bad.

Completely normal. It can be a bit faster with more modern gear, and my system is by no means a bare bones install.
Just curious, are your 2 SSD drives M.2 NVMe drives on your motherboard?

The article you linked claims the opposite about which is much faster. See:
Disk cloning offers a key advantage over disk imaging: it’s much faster.

Completely normal. It can be a bit faster with more modern gear, and my system is by no means a bare bones install.
Thank you for that, helps me rest easy.
Just curious, are your 2 SSD drives M.2 NVMe drives on your motherboard?
Yes they are Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe, one of 500GB for the OS (Yes I know plenty of space) and one of 1TB (no where near full), deliberately different sizes to ensure no problems when looking at bare bones doing something like a "Clean Install".
The PC was specified by me and built by a company in UK, in a very quiet case (albeit with one glass side) and was delivered to me June 2020.
Motherboard is "ASUS TUF Z390-PLUS Gaming (WiFi)" although I don't do any gaming on it.
This PC is the third PC that I have had built for me and is called TOP-PANDA (I started with TOP-CAT, and got carried away with TOP-DOG, TOP-ELK etc and one odd name when I repurposed TOP-CAT with Linux and called it PHOENIX).

all you have to do is hit the power button and everything works the way you
want it
Yep the default actions for the power button was one of the things to change - I hate PCs going to sleep (my personal preference).

Other quirks include having to change short date from 'dd/mm/yyyy' to 'dd/mm/yy' for my RoboCopy project to work properly (designed to backup files from SSDs to HDD in PC, External HDD via USB and NAS machine via network, and then shutdown:- All with one double click).

I'm having problems with getting my WebCam C920 to work, and found in Device Manager that although it is listed in 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers' there are problems under the 'Other Devices'.
If I assume that the this problem is related to the C920 then how do I get the drivers for this as using the <Update Driver> options, no drivers can be found.
If the problem is NOT related to the C920, I do not know what it relates too, as all other hardware appears to be working.
I have tried removing Logitech software, shutdown, remove C920 USB, start Win 11, plug in C920 and nothing happens (even with Windows Updates switch on).

I've downloaded and installed LogiTech G Hub, rebooted and although I get the video, I can't use the microphone in certain Apps.
Before my Clean Install, the microphone would appear in some Apps bottom centre of the screen, like MS Designer.
There is obvious something else that needs to be done?

Mine is off but, since you want apps to use the mic then turn on which one can access it.
This was setup yesterday, but checked today and all set to 'On'.
Just checked with WhatsApp that Mic might work, only to end up with one daughter in UK talking to other daughter in NY NY, each saying "did you phone me, no Oh" etc, while I'm saying "can you hear me" repeatedly. This has not helped at all.

Just to be certain, I closed PC, unplugged C920, started PC, showed Device manager (specifically 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers'), Pluugged in C920 and the 'HD Pro Webcam C920' appeared.
Not sure this helps anything, however, I noticed under 'Imaging Devices' that 'HD Pro Webcam C920' sits there as well!
Is that correct that it should be in 2 places in Device Manager?
