Solved PowerShell upgrade?

How to upgrade it from ver. 5 to the latest 7?

Hi Alexey,

PowerShell 7.3 is here:
The installation will let you choose to update thru the Windows Update site for future releases.

Make sure you get it from GitHub and NOT the Microsoft store. At least as of a week or so ago, Powershell 7.3 in the Microsoft store was not functioning properly.

Correct @safron, the store version will not work correctly.

Alexey, even though version is now shown when you open PS 7.3.0,
typing $PSVersionTable (enter) will show you more details.

İ installed store version, Is that false ? Should i install github version ? (sorry my english)

From 7.3, what do you get when you run this:

Get-WindowsCapability -Online | ? Name -like 'OpenSSH*'

If you do not get Class Not registered
You are good.

i deleted store version and installed github version.

then i will always update github version is it ok ?

You could always do that if you want.
It always takes a little longer to get it posted in the store.

Thanks for sharing the link, appreciate it.

A few queries, as shown in the attachments:

1. Windows Power Shell 5 should still remain or requires to be uninstalled?
2. Care to have a look at the checked options in the 2 attachments.....should they remain as default, like in #2 Register Windows Event Logging Manifest and in #3 both to remain enabled?

I use Terminal Preview which allows you to select which Powershell to use & display.
It is advisable to keep the old ps.exe (version 5), both can co-exist as 7 is named pwsh.exe.
The old one is in the windows folder while the new version is in Program files.
I have unchecked the event logging option but the others are up to you, but I left them.

1. How do I use Terminal Preview....apologize about the noob question. Do I need to install it?
2. Do I need to rename as pwsh.exe?
3. I too have unchecked event logging.
