Just saw it in the App Store and am curious what is it? A rebranding of OpenOffice? Something with little use? Or a powerful tool?

LibreOffice seems to be the No. 1 alternative to MS Office. I think Neat Office is a newcomer whereas LibreOffice has been around for some while and is more developed and stable than Neat Office I would imagine. It also offers more modules including Database for one.

Okay, so I have just installed it. It is a rebranding of LibreOffice. Plus, the icons did not appear in the start menu for some reason after installation. I have LibreOffice already installed.

Better compatability is via WPS office - rarely mentioned on these Forums -- maybe it's a nagging dislike of Chinese Software -- it works rather well . Most Chinese developed software works OK (even if the provenance might be a bit dubious).

If you want a Free database system just install MariaDB / MySQL -- works brilliantly (On Windows too) and if you install the windows MariaDB / MySQL OBDC driver (Free too) you can get queries direct into EXCEL spreadsheets too.

e.g

(Heidsql also good for interrogating MariaDB / MySQL) but sometimes you want to get stuff directly into a spreadsheet on one go).

Here's Heidisql on the same database table

I thought Neat office meant no paper / coffee cups, beer glasses etc and emptied bins / waste baskets.

A lot of limitations compared to LibreOffice: no way to insert pictures into documents, for instance (they want money to unblock it).

Again I find out that App Store is useless for installing software. At best, you see something interesting in it and go search for non-appstore version, which is usually newer and more feature-rich. In this case, just install LibreOffice, that's it.

Are you referring to WPS Office or Libre Office. WPS office works for picture insertation.
