I opened a piece of software I have to do a little check on some game files I hoped had been deleted. It told me that Edge was running in the background and should it stop it before the check. Yes I said, then contacted support to ask. They replied with a detailed email which they send out on this subject. It seems it quite common for Edge to keep running even if its never used.
They told me the open edge, go to settings and go to system and performance. At the top is a start up boost button, auto ticked by MS. Untick it and reboot, it wont bother you again. I did and it didn't.
