Solved Many Websites being Blocked

Ok so I have only been having this issue for about a month now and still cant figure it out. So heres the deal. I use firefox browser and no others. I use surfshark VPN. Windows defender security is Disabled because I use Malwarebytes Premium. There are many websites I used to be able to go on that now throw me this...

Now, Malwarebytes disables windows defender and takes over, I also have the defender Firewall disabled. I have Everything disabled, meaning Malewarebytes protection is completely off, VPN is turned OFF, I have the site i want to go to added to all places for it to be able to bypass security in Malwarebytes, My browser and the VPN. I have tracking protection off in Firefox. I do NOT have any adblocker installed in firefox nor do I have private browsing on, it is off. I can clear all cache etc in browser and clean windows caches etc and Still I get this screen. WHY? It has to be with firefox or windows security in my opinion but I cannot figure it out. I do go on some shady sites well according to people with morals..lol but there are alot of 100 percent legitimate sites this is happening to me as well. No matter what I do or have done does anything this is still happening and as I said really just started about a month ago.

Ok so I solved this myself. I didnt think about it but I have about 8 extensions for Firefox, I disabled them all, restarted my browser went back onto some sites and Poof, majic, NO adblocker stuff pops up. So its one of the extensions which ill go through them all to see specifically which one is doing it.

Might be a good idea to update Windows to 23H2 as well.

Even that anti-adblock message is sus.

Looks like possibly a fake message.

No, it's not a fake message. Most likely, the OP has set up an ad blocker in Firefox.

Firefox also has some newer privacy safeguards:





So, if the OP has things locked down tightly, ...

I agree completely with @RJARRRPCGP. I DO use an ad blocker from Malwarebytes, called Browser Guard, and I see requests from sites I visit, asking me to turn off my ad blocker (unless I’ve been there before and set BG to not block on that site), but I’ve never seen that Stop! sign before. That looks like evidence that you should be very careful about that site to me.

BTW, you’re wrong about MBAM and WD not running together. All you have to do is fix a single setting in MBAM to make them run happily together, and you get the best of both worlds.

Sorry, @Wynona , didn’t see your message until just now. But I still have never seen that particular anti-ad-blocker sign anywhere. And if I know I’m going to some sketchy site, I always use Firefox for that purpose.

Hmmmmm, I've been asked to turn off my ad blocker also, but I will not do it. If I'm refused entry to the site because of my ad blocker, it makes me suspicious that someone/something wants to give me something Gramma's lye soap won't take off! So, I'll just say, se la vie and get what information I want somewhere else.

@imanlien2020 Did you install an ad blocker in Firefox, and if so, which one was it?

@RJARRRPCGP I've seen that particular Stop before, but I may have jumped the gun about it not being bad news.

I have NO Ad blockers installed not even from Malwarebytes, And I set my Enhanced Tracking protection in firefox to Custom and Unchecked eveything in it.

As I said in my last post, I have seen that before. I am thinking that maybe it's the particular ad blocker that may have been installed doing that, since "I assume" he's seen this multiple times.

I dont want that. I was using just Windows defender for a minute when i first installed 22H2 but scratched it real quick because like Bitdefender for me it locked everything down and Blocked everything and I just didnt want to deal with it. So Malwarebytes alone works for me. But I could see how that is a good marriage of the 2 products.

Have you possibly run MBAM to check for malware?

The stoppers I typically see say things like “We depend on ad revenue to keep this site running, so we’re asking you to turn off your ad blocker.” And then there’s a little option to continue with ads blocked.

Yeah, that's what I see most of the time, and if it's a site I know to be safe, I'll turn off the ad blocker.

I'm not sure if with the new Firefox security and privacy measures I can do that any more. And, if I have an active VPN, hmmmm

Me too. And for sites I visit regularly, I just have BG set to always be still.

Leave everything on or as is and try accessing the same sites using Edge. From there, you'll see if the problem lies with Firefox or with something else.
