Hello,

Laptop has had series of BSODs throughout the day. The zip file is too large to upload. Would appreciate any help with solving this.

Is there a way to check that? There were no modifications to the ram after I bought the laptop 2 years ago.

The collected files are consistent with malfunctioning hardware: RAM / DIMM / motherboard.

Please remove both RAM modules > reinsert one module > monitor for stability / instability

If there is stability (no BSOD or unexpected shutdown and restart) then continue using just one module for several days.

If there is instability (BSOD or unexpected shutdown and restart) then test the second RAM module in the same DIMM.

Appreciate all the help. What should be the next steps after doing this? I’m unable to open the back lid until tomorrow morning.

If there is malfunctioning RAM then replace the RAM.

If there is laptop instability (BSOD or unexpected shutdown and restart) when using each RAM module in the same DIMM then repeat the testing of each RAM module in the second DIMM.

If the laptop continues to be unstable testing each RAM and each DIMM then see if you can swap test a new or known functioning RAM module.

If there is no RAM to swap test or if swap tested RAM continues with computer instability then contact Asus or a local computer store for servicing.

If you find one malfunctioning and one normal RAM module then use only one RAM module and run the Crucial scanner to view possible replacement options.

I don't think this is necessarily a hardware issue, I feel that approach is rather premature. If you actually examine the dump files, then the general exception throughout each dump file is consistent.

Please follow these instructions for enabling Driver Verifier: BSOD - Driver Verifier Instructions

I doubt that it will produce much, however, it is worthwhile seeing if it picks up anything. Please note that it is especially important you enable it to verify the wdf01000.sys driver as well.

Additionally, could you please place the following file in .zip folder and then upload it to Google Drive as it will be too large to attach to a forum post:

Code:
C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP

It should compress to less than 1GB.

I ran the driver verifier.
Okay, please keep it running for at least 24-48 hours or until the system crashes with a BSOD, whichever happens first. Afterwards, please disable Driver Verifier.

It looks like that crash was caused when attempting to load one of your audio drivers, could you please open an elevated command prompt and enter the following command:

Code:
fltmc filters >> %userprofile%\Desktop\filters.txt

Please attach the filters.txt file to your next post.

The opening post share link was able to be opened again however the memory dump file was not able to be opened.

MemoryDMG was not able to be opened.

Please post using another method.

The logs are typical of malfunctioning hardware.

When available update the progress with RAM / DIMM / motherboard testing.

The computer spontaneously created 15 dump files in 1 day.

Running WDV is taking the thread off course.

Please focus on the malfunctioning hardware.

Please run:

I ran the netfxrepair tool which produced some files on desktop that I am attaching. There haven't been any BSOD today, so I will hold off on removing the RAM modules until problems arise.

1) Please run and post a new V2 into the newest post.

2) Open Administrative Command Prompt (ACP) and copy and paste:

PowerShell $D=(New-Object -ComObject Wscript.Shell).SpecialFolders(4);Compress-Archive "%WinDir%\MEMORY.DMP" "$D\Memory_dmp"

Post a separate share link into the newest post.

I ran and am attaching the new V2.

Something must have went wrong when I tried to zip the MemoryDmp file since I got this error when running the acp. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You just had to rename the file back to MEMORY.DMP and it would have opened.

The logs are typical of malfunctioning hardware.
Could you please provide your analysis and thoughts as to why you believe that this is the case? I'm not suggesting that you're necessarily wrong, however, I don't understand the strong emphasis on testing the RAM when there seems to be quite a consistent pattern. In my opinion, ruling out any driver issues - which are usually the cause of most crashes - is the better approach to take first.

Thanks, looks okay to me, just wanted to check if you had any third-party FS filter drivers, because the latest crash seemed to occur just after a FS filter callback.

You can either continue with Driver Verifier or run MemTest86, but it might be easier for you to just boot into Safe Mode with Networking for a few days, and then see if the system continues to remain stable.

The log files now have approximately 37 BSOD and / or unexpected shutdowns and restarts in less than 38 hrs.

Running WDV has taken the thread away from testing for malfunctioning hardware.

Please focus on the malfunctioning hardware.

Laptop had a STOP 0xC1: SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION BSOD so I disabled DV. Here is the new V2 file that I just ran.

Scheduled to meet with a technician on Monday to diagnose the laptop. Will provide further updates once that occurs.
