Solved No sound coming from speakers/ speakers not detected at all windows 11 22H2

For about 2 weeks i have had this problem. All of a sudden crackling of the sound then the sound cuts off entirely from my laptop speakers. At times, the speakers were not even detected as an output device. I have tried all suggestions : navigating to lenovo and manually install drivers, as well as updating/reinstalling drivers from device manager, Note when I click "let me choose for available drivers" there is only one option of driver for me to pick (Realtek) i even wiped my pc and reinstalled windows but the problem persists. I am unsure what to do. I am able to have sound when using bluetooth headphones. Audio troubleshooter also does nothing. I have also tried services.msc and rerunning windows audio and it did not work either. What to do? I have a lenovo yoga slim 7 pro x .

Consider the problem could lie in the speakers or their connection to the mobo. Testing with external speakers would be my first test.

Have you tried a wired pair of headphones?
It might also be a broken connector.
Most of the time, when crackling occurs in audio devices, it's either dust
or a bit of oxidization that has formed inside the input or output jack.
Try cleaning it out with some cleaning solution.

Just tested with external speakers and there is sound

So, I guess you can scratch my suggestion.
It could still be a broken or loose wire inside
the notebook.
has it ever been hit or dropped ?

OK so, do you have a program that would control the output of those
connections like a sound FX program.

Hello, HK.

I don't have a solution to your sound question, sorry.

But to the question of using vinegar... personally, I would advise against it, in this situation. Vinegar contains acetic acid and can be corrosive to metal.

I suggest you try Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), instead.

I totally agree with this comment with one caveat.
Rubbing alcohol is not the same as isopropyl alcohol
and should not be used to clean electronic components.

You could try contact cleaner.

But, if you're not getting intermittent connections now, my guess is that it'd be a waste of time.

Whenever I get these kinds of problems…. Is it hardware?……. Is it software……

I insert my Linux Mint iso on a usb, boot from it, go into it in live mode, click on Firefox, and check things out on YouTube.

up until a few days ago, reinstalling the drivers would result in temporary sound. nothing has changed since then so idk why it doesnt work now

If you're up to it, open the back of the notebook and check to see if you can detect
any loose connections around the connection jack.
Make sure you have the notebook Off and that you are using either a anti static wrist band
or a non-conductive mat. You might also consider unplugging the battery if you are poking
around the wires to the connection jack. Use a long plastic rod and just move the wires around
a bit. It should be clear if one or more are either broken or just loose. You can then either re-attach
the loose wire or if broken, use a bit of solder to make the connection stable.
I know, if it's not your thing , it can be a bit overwhelming but, opening the back of a notebook
is not hard and you could maybe fix it yourself.

Hang on guys - before we advise the OP to do various cleaning activities, first we need to eliminate software issues as the root of OP's problems.

I would clean install Windows 11 in a virtual hard drive vhdx file, and create boot entry, boot from it and see if still the same issues.

If so, I would repeat using Windows 10 in a vhdx.

If still the same issues, you can be pretty certain it is hardware related.

I've already asked if the OP has some kind of FX software but, got no response.

You are probably right but one should always try software troubleshooting first before hardware troubleshooting.

I rather take a Holmes view to troubleshooting.

When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
