Solved Removing "Text Document"' from 'New' context menu...

Hi I know there has been a thread about this, but it is now closed.
I used the 2 tweaks to remove BMP and TXT from my Right click context menu in New and it worked fine. Today I noticed they came back, I ran the tweaks again and the BMP disappeared but TXT (text document is still there even though the Value Data is empty.
Anyone got any ideas??
The difference in my machine is upgraded to 23H2 and an update to notepad

Search "ShellNewDisplayName_Txt" and find the next entry to modify.

So you need to find the next one that DOES have an effect.

When panaho posted the fix for the first time at
he/she suggested you use F3 repeatedly until Reg Editor cycles back to the first instance where you deleted the value.

I've asked that question as well above but did wonder if some cut-n-paste work would achieve the job using his script as a starter.

I know nothing about scripting so i'm not going to attempt it. Knowing my luck i'd delete the entire internet.!

With sincere apologies to @hdmi, for playing at revising his code, I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead. Or, at least, not in trouble. He, unlike me, knows what he's doing. I only did the cut-and-paste thing.

I don't understand. WHICH original one worked with BMP? The hdmi-posted file in #6? That one was for Text Document, yes? Did my edit for BMP work for you? (TBH, hdmi's Notepad version didn't work for me, either, but you said in #8 that it did for you. (???)

It's _x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe not _8wekyb3d8bbwe (important distinction), and, the only place in HKCR\Local Settings\MrtCache where a key exists on my computer that matches both Microsoft.Paint_ and it just like panaho told about in the other thread (in post #71 from 18 July) is just an empty key. So, a value that has the ShellNewDisplayName_Bmp in its name only is present in HKCU\Software\Classes and a few other spots all of which are someplace under HKU. AFAIK Microsoft did a repaint of Paint not too long ago so I am guessing it could be entirely possible that the tweak that panaho had found no longer works now. But I don't know that, as I haven't tried it yet.

The "panaho" tweaks still work perfectly. I just search for ShellNewDisplayName_Bmp and ShellNewDisplayName_Txt and delete the text (value data), and then F3 to see whether there's anything else. Works every time.
