Windows 11 Best Debloater

My win 11 install is getting on for 15 months old and i think it's time for a fresh install.
Can i have some recommendations on the best debloater to use these days?

You could use NTLite to debloat as much as you need or want and create your own ISO to install ?

Use a debloater script to remove all unnecessary programs in Windows 10 and 11.

My question would be, why?
Is it unstable or is it working properly?
Have you run with cmd as admin: one at a time
SFC /scannow

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

cineman195, I've used nlite to trap most of the stuff but on a test install in a vm there is still junk being installed.

In my opinion; If you’re looking to save a little space, then that’s fine (I doubt you would save much) but if you’re doing it expecting a better performance, you might be disappointed or at best, given a false sense of achievement.

Debloating in my opinion does nothing for the performance of your PC. Also, there is always the chance it can have adverse affects.

If it were me, I’d stay in control and do it manually with Revo Uninstaller after the install of Windows. Remove whatever Microsoft Apps you don’t use.


And as always, backup/image your PC before making changes to your OS.

It's more all the rubbish i have installed and then removed.

I'd clean install Win 11, with NO internet connection.
Install your motherboard and vid card drivers.
After install, use REVO to remove whatever you don't want, and do it's... "scan for left overs".

Then do any tweaks you want, and install your programs. (install large programs or games on a storage drive)
Then make a temp full backup.

Then... connect the internet and do the Windows Updates. There should only be a few.
Do any final tweaking or adjusting, then make your first serious full backup.

Also, consider an in-place repair upgrade. That way, you don't have to reconfigure apps, etc. That's what I did recently to fix a problem with one app, and it took around an hour.

Don't these bloatware get reinstalled after a Windows update or running a restore health? I tried Revo a while ago and found that mostly of these bloatwares came back on my computer.

Yeah... but there's a tutorial for that.
I uninstalled all the Windows Apps... then disabled App updates.
None have come back.

Dunno... but that's what mine looks like anyway...





I just did an In-Place upgrade from Win 10, then went ballistic with REVO. Same result I guess.

No... Cortana, AI, Widgets, or anything 365.
A few tweaks, Winaero Tweaker and TranslucentTB... and that's about it.

Have you used Disk cleanup to remove dross that's slowing down your computer? It might make you change your mind about any need for a clean install.

The only reason to debloat Windows is if you want to run Windows 11 on an older computer, you might might want to remove TPM, CPU and Secure Boot and make it run on less RAM.

Any savings you get in any other context are minimal at best.

As NormanF says above, running a debloated Win11 on an older machine is a good reason for debloat.

This is my experience over the last 12 months - NOT recommending, only outlaying facts. Others will choose their own risks, caveat emptor.

I have 3 laptops on my small home network. Up till about 12 months ago, I'd switched 2 of the younger hardware machines (Gen's 8 and 10) to Win11 from Win7 ) to use the advancing browsers. The oldest machine (Gen5) was still on Win7 and used mostly as a legacy for catching night-time emails. So, Gen 5, 4Gb RAM and 2TB SATA SSD (that PC has no NVMe socket, too old).

I decided to try one of those cut-down Win11 Lite installations on it. Very little to loose at that point. A full Macrium backup image was done first, though.

To my surprise, it worked perfectly without flaw. A clean install from a USB using Rufus on the Win11 Lite iso. Had to rebuild the applications but there was really nothing to loose. It has BitDefender Free and Free Firewall as defenders of the faith. Free Firewall is set up to prevent any potential "phone home" malware that I don't fancy. The whole thing now works as fast as the newer machines. It is currently running the 23H2 22631.3447 version without difficulty, and all browsers are on their most recent iteration. For the time being, updates are supplied through the Win11 Lite web page to ensure compatibility and if (when) that dries up, well at least this 10 year old machine has had a few more useful years at trivial cost.

Sizes of Windows directories: 24.7Gb, 24.3Gb and ... 17.8Gb for the Win11 Lite machine.

The way I do, is to first install Windows 11 tiny beta1 (you can google it). It's compact, good for any old (as well as new) PCs. It's stripped of almost every pre-installed Microsoft app,

then repair-install using latest Windows 11 version (23H2/24H2? ). this will make Windows 11 updated, while staying stripped except Edge. (repair-install will get Edge back and no way to remove again)
