I got a new gaming PC a little over a month ago. It has Windows 11. My work computer and my other home PC are Windows 10. My first time with the gaming PC I downloaded three games through Steam. I go into work the next day and I'm shocked to see icons on the work PC for those game files. So I delete those icons. Come home, turn on the gaming PC, but where are my games? They're gone. So deleting them at work also deleted them at home. I had to go back into Steam and restore them.

That's when I started researching it and found out that I needed to turn off "share with other Windows devices nearby". So I did that for each of the devices, work PC, gaming PC, home PC, and the new laptop I bought. I thought that was the end of it. No it wasn't. I had to download a tool to run a game with and when I went into work the next day, there is was on my work PC. I also created a Word Pad document at work the other day and saw on Saturday when I got on my gaming PC, there was a copy of that document in the documents file.

So the devices are still sharing somehow. How do I stop it?

I believe you'll find you have both devices set up to sync to onedrive which is automatically turned on when using a MS account in both 10 and 11.

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-onedrive-folder-backup-syncing-across-windows-11-devices.4321/

I went into the settings on the Windows 10 machine at work and turned off the One Drive syncing across the board and the gaming things disappeared from that PC's desktop, which is what I wanted. Here at home I don't care what the machines share but I just wanted the work PC out of that loop which is apparently what's happened for now.

It did delete a work function icon shortcut from the desktop but I can get around that.
