After a relatively short spell of using it I do find one issue with something seems to have been removed. - Rules and levels of Spam filtering
I am trying to setup some of the rules rules I used to have - some to block specific spam and some to re-route emails to required folders. Also there use to be a means of setting level of automatic filtering emails to send most spam to Trash folder. I can't find either of these. Maybe I'm jumping the gun and need to look deeper but having tried the Help button and Googling what I find either doesn't work or instructions can no longer be found.
Anyone else having these issues (and others)?

The New Outlook App still in Beta, replaces the basic Mail App late 2024.

For the features you require you will need the Desktop(Classic) Outlook application.

For irrelevant reasons I had to clean reinstall Office 365 which obviously included Outlook. The version that was installed was what you say is the Beta version. I wasn't given any option - that was what was installed and everything about the installation implies it is a final (!) release version.
As there are things missing from Beta, the question is how do I revert to the classic version?

Just uninstall the New Outlook with the standard methods, right click the Icon > Uninstall, or go to Apps > Installed Apps > Select > 3 dots > Uninstall.

I don't have classic desktop Outlook, not part of my installed MS Office versions. I'm using the Mail App which was not impacted at all.

Uninstalled New Outlook yesterday after getting a message from MS support about missing features which they are working on. It is in the MS Store if people want to be an unpaid beta tester.

I believe you’re confusing the issue. @Sigurd is talking about Outlook in Office 365.

Sigurd, sounds like Microsoft has taken away the option to “Try” the new Outlook and is just starting to get subscribers to live with it. I couldn’t find any documentation on the spam settings for the new instance of Outlook in Office 365 either. They’re obviously jumping the gun a bit. Cart before the horse? As you said, they’re probably just deeper in or moved, Microsoft loves moving things.

I suppose sooner or later it would be forced on us anyway so i may as well get used to it now.
What I find more irritating in respect of Microsoft decisions on our behalf, is their endless attempts to get me to use Bing despite my having altered the selection for default browser and search engine to Google.

Just a comment, I understand the issues with Microsoft making changes and I started with Windows back in '92, retired 2 years later and offered a job in a computer shop, started building computers. Only versions I've never had beginning with 3.1 and NT 3.51 were ME and Vista although did have to work those two. Since we only purchase a license to use Windows we are not at liberty to force anything on Microsoft except no longer supporting Windows.

In fairness to Microsoft, I have to say that while it periodically irritates me, it is a remarkable operating system as is the Office suite, especially for one who first started messing around with computers - TRS80 running BASIC, MSDOS, LDOS, then various incarnations that culminate in the current Windows version. As for Office software programs as called then (not "apps") I can only recall a word processor and a few odds and ends initially.
But it was good enough to allow a friend and I (IT & Dr.) to create one of the earliest computer systems for medical practitioners in the UK. Failed to make us a fortune but that is another story!
So maybe I shouldn't knock it!
(Sorry - I'm off topic but at least I am the OP)!

I use Outlook classic from Microsoft 365. The button to "Try the new Outlook" is still there. From what I read; I'm staying with classic Outlook.

Something I noticed several months back. I rarely use Microsoft Outlook(default mail on Win11) and I also have a subscription to MS 365 with Desktop Outlook. At one time I chose to try the new Outlook on the Win11 mail Outlook. Since I rarely use it I didn't notice any showstoppers for me. I then also selected the New Outlook on the 365 Outlook version. And all of a sudden the Outlooks appeared to have merged into ONE Outlook. I seemed to not be able to bring up the 365 version of Outlook. I toyed with this for a while to try and figure out what was happening. I eventually turned off the Try New Outlook which brought me back to the normal 365 Outlook version.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this or not.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
I wonder, if @Sigurd added the HideNewOutlookToggle DWORD with a value of 0, would he be able to revert to the classic Outlook, if present!?

For me, flipping the switch then hiding it allows me to run both side by side...

Same here, Gary. I don’t have time for dumbed down software, especially for software that worked so well.

That’s odd, but if it is by design, very wrong.

I am not "confusing the issue", I'm a user unlike some making pointless comments.

I chose words to make it as clear as possible with the way MS names things.

New Outlook is a Web App as opposed to the Mail App (UWP) and the Desktop(Classic) Outlook application.

You can have all 3 installed if you wish.

The future is not here yet, what is known that changes in about a year for Mail App users, and I suspect a lot longer for Desktop(Classic) Outlook users.

But Sigurd is talking about Outlook in the Office suite, which also has a New Outlook preview toggle (for the office suite) not the Outlook app for windows that is replacing mail. So I for one have no understanding of why people are bringing up the Outlook “App”

I found another issue with Outlook for PC (New) and asked on the MS Community about it. One helpful suggestion was the link to Getting started with the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support. At the bottom of this is a table of what works and what doesn't.
Could you please clarify eaxactly which Outlook you are referring to? So far you have mentioned two different versions. Outlook for Windows and Outlook in Offce 365.

For irrelevant reasons I had to clean reinstall Office 365 which obviously included Outlook.

I found another issue with Outlook for PC (New) and asked on the MS Community about it.

So which one are you actually talking about? Both have a “New Outlook”
Because if you’re talking about the independent Desktop Version, then I have an apology to make to someone in here.

I am really hating this company called Microsoft.

The S**T they put out and the control they are having on our PC is insidious.

The S**T they put out and the control they are having on our PC is insidious.

I refuse to be any of their Insiders.
Use something else. I hear Linux is good.
