hi,
when will the Windows 11 app store get the feature of installing applications to a desired drive/directory/folder?
HDDs and SSDs are now not as expensive as they were before. But other people can't afford them, have small space in the c drive, and wish to install applications in app store on d,e, or f drive.
If we look it from our perspective, then this question shouldn't be asked.

At least you have an option. You can change the default install location for future apps I believe. Dude, I’m doing all the work for you…

You can’t always expect Microsoft to do everything the way you want it. It has default settings and you have the option to change them, seriously, what more do you want? Now that you know, you can fix it.

a person having much knowledge of computers can do it. but a common computer user(I am not talking about myself)would just want to go to the app store to install an application and expect it also have the option to install it, at the desired location.it doesnt mean i am wiser and ms is not.

Put in a request to Microsoft?

This is why we have this forum, isn’t it?
I say with the upmost respect, you can not expect Microsoft to accommodate everyones preferences, not all at once. Settings come and go… who knows what the future holds?

The average common computer user you mention, probably wouldn’t even have a secondary drive. They just click OK, job done. If they did and wanted to, they would search?

For us, and anyone who searches for “Install Windows Store apps on a secondary or different drive” will now find this thread!!!

I would want to protect myself from people who wish to Label the word magic on me, possibly by using force.
i heard two days ago Microsoft is going to introduce this feature in Microsoft Windows 11 app store.

Since you put it like that.... experience and empirical evidence wise - I strongly disagree. Common users want to use their PC same as a TV. Same common users - who call a friend or ask the most basic question on a forum. I guess it takes a basic PC knowledge - to use google (still rather common among common users - but a level above - since they have some basic understanding of the way software works and how that can be changed - with the help of others). Advanced users on other hand, well... if the answer can be easily found on a simple google search (as it's the case with the topic at hand) - that's clearly below or around basic user level.

That being said, Microsoft Store and the way it works now - is actually aimed at common users (who expect an app to be automatically installed from a safe environment and just work - after they touched install). This feature (Microsoft Store) - it's actually mimicking Apple's Mac OSX App Store, Linux's equivalent (different naming - depending on distribution) or Google Play on Android. Basically cutting out all the extra risks from downloading an app from the web (who knows what source) - or wasting time with all the extra steps (selecting folders, partition and such). Since SSD became cheap - even OEMs followed suit: almost every PC this days (if not all ) - comes with a single partition. The option to make multiple partitions - is still there, but that up to the user. Even tho, it still helps to have a partition for Windows and its programs and at least an extra partition for anything else (especially personal stuff). Back-up might help - but it's still far from being a popular option.

Hope this answers your dilema - seeing you already got some info on where you can find step by step tutorials (tho, as the old saying goes: google is your friend).
