New laptop no WIFI found

Got a new laptop HP Envy 17" cr 0503 on Thursday.
Windows said updates available so timed them to download overnight last night.
This morning I have no WIFI, nothing showing anywhere I can find to connect via WIFI, troubleshooting says connect ethernet cable but there is no socket for one, no mention of WIFI at all.
Not sure if updates have corrupted the WIFI or if if it's a fault with the WIFI card, W11 is all new to me so not sure where I want to be.
Looked for what WIFI/Networking card is fitted but no luck.

I have read delete the driver and reinstall it but I can't see what driver I'm looking for.
Any instructions/thoughts appreciated please.

Press the Windows key and the S key, then type Device Manager, ENTER.
Look under Network Adapters. You will need to double click it or click on the drop-down arrow.

Yours will look similar. Double click on the wifi one. If you are not an Admin, click on Change Settings as shown below and enter the PIN, password or touch the fingerprint sensor, whatever you use to log in as Admin.



Then select the driver TAB and 'uninstall device' at the bottom. Do not check the box at this stage.


Now reboot and advise the result.

Look in Device Manager for your Wi-Fi Network Adapter. Right-click on it and you should see the options to 'Update, Enable/Disable and Uninstall'.

Could you have accidently turned off wifi or turned on 'Airplane mode'? There will be a little airplane symbol in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Thanks for the replies. No airplane mode is not selected all I have is what I assume is a globe with an no entry sign.
This what I have (or don't have) in device manager. Looks to me like WIFI isn't showing.

Can you return it to the vendor? Alternatively, buy an Ethernet to USB adapter, connect by cable to your router and run Window Update again.
If that does not work, go to the manufacturer's website and look for support...drivers and download the wifi adapter driver.

So am I correct in the WIFI isn't showing? yes I can return the laptop which I will do.
I do like to try to solve problems with the forum help so I learn more about the workings.

So it must have worked at first. You must have been able to connect to a network and so on. Have you perhaps done something later or has there been a duff update. Have any updates actually installed? Check the update history to see. If they have try uninstalling any relevant ones.

Is there a factory restore image on the drive that can be used to put it back to OOB (out of box) condition. You could also try doing a fresh clean install as a last resort.

Please post a photo of the model number and serial numberas I can't find yours on HP's website.

Another idea. Are there any 'unknown' devices in Device Manager? Or devices with a yellow triangle?

Yes it was working up to when I went to bed last night, that's why I'm not sure if it was updates or not causing the problem. I looked at updates and see 3 failed, KB5031225, KB5011048, KB5010474
I feel a bit unsure because W11 is new to me. In the windows 11 update windows towards the bottom of the page it says ' uninstall updates is it just a case of clicking uninstall. It installed 2 updates, KB5032007 AND KB5033375

It should be, yes.

I'm also going to say that it might be better to do a full clean install of W11 using the Media Creation Tool or you could try some of the W11 recovery options to do a clean... would that last option need internet access though...

I've found W11 very good at picking up most if not all of the correct drivers if you clean install.

It did itnautomatically but the first thing I did was to reboot when I saw the problem.
