Ricoh Printer not working anymore under Win11

I tried to contact Ricoh but they were not able to help me either
What did Ricoh tell you? Did they even attempt to help you getting it to work? The only thing I could suggest is completely remove the printer and it's software. Restart, then attempt to reinstall in compatibility mode. Redirecting

Not very informative error messages.

A random suggestion: see whether the USB port on the new PC is working. One way to do that would be to plug in a thumb drive.

At least you know that the printer itself is OK. I recently had to retire a printer because it stopped communicating via its Ethernet port.
USB port is working fine, i have tried another one just in case, same problem. Thank you
J

First they thought I had a support contract, when they realised that I did not, they put me through to another service, which tried to redirect me to the first department i was talking to. I gave up

I already uninstalled and reinstalled (Twice), did not solve the problem. I really think that because the printer is old until Microsoft/Ricoh release an update, it's not going to work (as I said works perfectly with my old PC which I kept)

If a program or driver written for an earlier version of Windows doesn't run properly in current Windows, then you could try using compatibility mode on the program to hopefully allow it to run properly.

Run the driver and printer software in the compatibility mode. Follow the below steps:

  1. Right click on the installer/program icon, click on Properties.
  2. Click the Compatibility tab.
  3. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box and select the Preferred Windows version like windows 8.
  4. Check run this program as an administrator.
  5. Click on Apply and click OK button.

The differences between Windows 10 and 11 are slight enough that I would expect drivers that were OK under 10 to work under 11.

The exception that I know of is drivers that conflict with Core Isolation. (That was present under 10, but rarely enabled. It's not mandatory under 11.) However, if that conflict existed, you wouldn't have been permitted to install the drivers at all.

I see that Ricoh offers separate drivers for the scanning function. Dated 2013. They're TWAIN drivers. Windows 10 and 11 no longer have built-in support for TWAIN devices, so I imagine that you'd need the Ricoh drivers.

One of the reasons I've stuck with Brother printers for the past few years is that they seem to co-operate with Microsoft to provide drivers for old printers through Windows Update.

I just thought of something you can try if you want. open Device Manager then Select Printers > right click on your printer and click on Update Drivers > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available driver on my computer. If you see a list of driver you can try them and see if one of the generic drivers will work.

Manage a Ricoh printer on a network with 20 odd devices connected by LAN. Ricoh printer started to play up badly, not printing, printer queue clogged, etc etc

All the fault/problem of Windows default driver for particular device. Long story short, ultimate solution was .. used RevoUninstaller (fully!!!) to remove all components of Windows drivers. Downloaded driver from Ricoh .... perfectamundo !!!

NOTE Using REvo,
-install, change Options settings (tab along top) > Uninstaller > untick make a system restore point, tick checkmark all leftovers by default
- select Ricoh driver from list, 2 x click to uninstall
- when finished, do not reboot even if prompted
- select the Advanced button, run and indiscriminately delete all leftover files, folder and registry entries, Don't be selective!!

Reboot and then install driver from Ricoh.

EDIT Note that Microsoft in all its bastardry is likely to re-install their driver and replace the Ricoh one. This may happen once, maybe twice, until the above steps are repeated and Microsoft gets the message to mind its own business and p1ss off!!!

UPDATE: OMG!!!! The printer is working. All I did was to remove the line (see error message printing 7) with the red line and the printer is now working!!!
Forget what I said above, the problem is back, error message when sending to print. The confusion is mind blowing. I managed to print one page and now it refuses to print again

I don't know if this can help solving the problem. Please look at the screenshots. In my device manager, under Other Devices, there is an entry for the printer with a warning sign. When i click on it, it says that the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28), when I click on install driver (and I have got them from the Ricoh website), it says next that Windows was unable to install the printer. Though if you look a few lines down in the device manager, under Printers, the printer is showing and with the latest driver installed and that the device is working perfectly. I am really confused. Thanks
J

The next issue now is that the scanner function is not working (nor with the NAPS2 program), the device cannot be found basically. Not the end of the world as I don't use the scanner too much. But it would be nice to have that function again working

My guess is that it's the scanner driver that's not installed. I ran out of ideas on why the printer isn't working. I'll keep trying to come up with some more ideas though.
