Solved USB showing?

Hi,

I have a USB drive showing in This PC as G drive. When in real time their isn't any.

C and D are the laptop's drive: W11 and Data. Rest are USB thumb connected using Type C adaptor.

How do I remove it from showing.....through regedit?

Hoping to hear from experts.

I get these message when I click on it OR clicking eject...….

EDIT:

It only disappears once I have removed the Type C adaptor, along with other USB thumb drives, left are only C and D.

Is the drive in question an external/portable optical drive?

@Edwin , it's not an external optical but a USB plugged into multi port type C adaptor.

PS: Never used an ext. optical drive on this laptop, till now.

After unplugging type C...…..Does it have to do with some driver of Type C adaptor....

?

Every USB Port on your computer should show up in Windows explorer, whether there is an actual drive plugged into it or not.

In the above pic, it appears that G: is just an empty USB port. Plug in a Flash Drive and see what that port looks like then.

I have 3 ports on my laptop. 2 X 3.0 USB and 1 X type C.

I have Dell KB mouse wireless receiver on one and Ethernet on the other. None left except type C....

I'll plug in type C with the USB drives and taken another screenshot and post, before going for rounds.....

Hi, When I connect it using a USB type 3 port it get's disconnected after some hrs. Is this an issue with the Gigabyte adaptor OR the laptop's port. I never get this issue when I connect using USB type C port, using a 12 in 1 adaptor, with other USB devices attached to it. Hoping as always to...

None of my computers show the USB ports in File Explorer or Total Commander until I have plugged in a drive. I do have an older Notebook that shows the SD card port as USB, perhaps because it also has a PCMCIA socket.

Same here, never seen a empty USB port show up in File Explorer.

@Edwin , you are correct

. But why in my situation...

It only shows up in the explorer, every else I see NO G drive. Neither in attached USB type C. I see all other USB drives with names e.g E, F, H, I But not G....

Am at a loss...

Maybe something about showing or hiding empty drives like with CD/DVD when no disc has been inserted in Folder Options?

Any idea how it could be removed? My feeling is it's either to do with registry or maybe some driver issues....like displaying in the screen capture posted some dll when clicked to format....
